i hope this is the right place to post this question. fasttech is selling elaf isticks mini for $14 & as I like them I was thinking of grabbing an extra one for the dark ages. fasttech says they are "authentic". Do any of you experienced in buying from them think thats likely to be true?

@Bea-FL - I love the little Eleaf iStick Mini 10W mods myself, and use 2 of mine daily, for more than 1.5 years so far without problems. Have more than a dozen of them still boxed in my stash (bought ahead months ago for myself and a few other people). With that said though...I've also bought inexpensive mods lately, that take the 18650 replaceable batteries for the longterm (for ex. (2) KBox 40W for $9.99 each, (2) Sigelei 50W for $19.99 each, (1) Sigelei 30W for $23.50, (3) Pico 75W for $23.50 each). Also got about 6 inexpensive Aspire Mech. Mods put away that use replaceable batts.

If you want another iStick Mini 10W for $14...I'd say go for it! But, while you're on FT...take a look at the little Pico 75W ones, too. I'd pick up 1 of those especially, for the long haul.

The worst thing about mini - it has built-in battery, not really good for "dark ages".
I know what you're saying. I've been debating this issue for a few days. This is all for my "dark ages" stash. I read somewhere about it not being a good idea to stash away mods with internal batteries so I bought two provari minis @ $35 each because they are my favorite. So then I thought about getting a pico but adding about $10 to its price gets me another provari. A second istick mini, which i already use as an extra was another thought, pricewise. What to do, what to do…

I understand you.
My favorite mod is iStick 30. More than 1 year old. More than 300 times recharged. Still running strong. I will miss it.

Fasttech has the Pico for $23-25. I would look at something with a replaceable battery for long term. My wife and I are still using out iStick 30 and 40 watt mods, but just because they have built in batteries so we will use them until they die.

Another poster mentioned the Kanger KBox 40W and I think these are great mods that are rock solid. If you can find them for $9.99 or close, I would jump on that.

Lastly, Fasttech "authentic" has always been true in my case. Kanger, Aspire, etc., "Authentic" is real and "styled" is a clone. They are really good about being honest IME.

Vaping on a elaf right now, which model?

I also bought one of the authentic version one SVDs from FT; just as crappy as the rest of them.

It is okay to store them but the internal batts will not last indefinitely even if not used. I remember having some joyetech eRoll kits w/internal batts and left in a drawer the battery pack inside "swelled". The other one was somewhat weaker after a while.

so I bought two provari minis @ $35 each because they are my favorite.

Provari isn't actually my favorite as I find them quite heavy to "hoist" but for long haul and dependability, you can't beat it.

Like retired said, there is no one mod for everything. There are other mods with replaceable 18650 batts however you still have ot have a mod that will last, that means circuit boards lasting, 510 connectors not getting wobbly or stripped w/age, etc.

Nothing is made to last *forever*. Most of the chinese type mods, I'd say 1 year to 1.5 years, maybe 2.

That's not a knock, it's fine w/me. Just saying that that is what you get.

I would probably get a Joyetech VTC Mini at this stage, seems very dependable compared to everything else in that particular class. JMHO. I didn't like the Pico, it is a bit "fat" width wise in my hand which I expected due to it's very short height. Something always has to be sacraficed in the size somewhere. Shorter will be fatter, longer will be thinner, etc.

IT all depends on what you are used to. I really enjoyed having an istick mini 20 and 30 watt for a while, it fit my hand nicely, but the rattling button (or whatever it is that rattles in those things) just drove me nuts, I was coming from provari and reos and used to SOLID. I did not expect the istick to last forever and they don't, I just couldn't handle the "cheap" feeling of them and then some of the models seemed to die or catch on fire, etc. No thanks.

I find provari a little on the heavy side, not something I relish "tossing in my purse" but that is just me. However, I keep one around at home because I know it is utterly dependable in every way and solid. I do know it is safe. I don't ever worry about the house burning down with one of those.

I myself have never found the perfect vape. And if I did, it wasn't something that would last for 3-5 years. :)

You spend $22 or so, you are getting a $22 peice of hardware. The snap on tool screwddriver I use to take laptops apart costs more than that. And there's no electronics in it.

Well great input everyone - thank you. In the end, I just bought one more Provari mini. It is my most favorite device and I actually like its weight, it feels substantial. I had decided not to stash away a mod with an internal battery so I debated between the Provari and the Pico. Then I reminded myself why I hadnt bought a Pico the first time around - I dont like box mods, I like stick-shapes because they fit better in my hand. The istick mini works ok because it's so small and it's fine as an extra.

My vent for the day: I really resent being put in this position of having to make such long-term decisions and having to either prepare myself for the dark ages without knowing the answers to the "what ifs" or finding myself short on what I need to not smoke without it costing me a fortune.

By the way, I have never ordered from fasttech. What shipping option do you choose when you are ordering something w/a battery??

If the battery is of the non-removable type, it doesn't matter. It's the "loose" batteries that have issues with shipping.

Good Morning ECF'ers and my first MOD was an iStick TC40W which is still being used for the times I need a smaller pocket MOD that is semi stealthy. Even though I have 150 to 250 Watt MOD's now I still use that iStick and is is really convenient to bring along when you need a backup just in case type of situation. Whatever makes you happy and delivers the perfect vape for you is what you really need,

Good Luck and Vape On Safely!
