Auto battery air sensor?

Question I haven't seen answered, even after searching:

What sort of sensor is used to activate an automatic battery? I see people calling it an airflow sensor, but is that true, or does it really detect pressure (vacuum)? Mechanical or electronic (MEMS?) Anyone know?

It is a switch in the side of the ecig. When you draw on the mouthpiece, you create a vaccum, drawing the electrical contact in, and it activates the battery.

So, mechanical. Thanks. I kind of figured an electronic one would add to much cost to a ~$10 battery
