Hey, I'm brand new to this. I saw it at the mall, didn't buy it. Went to a smoke shop and bought one, thought it sucked, went back to the mall, bought that one, thought it sucked. Bought the DSE801 starter kit online and I can see why people like it. After roving this forum for a day, I figure I'll get a Chuck soon, and then some HV joye 302 or dse801 attys. But tonite, I ordered two joye 302 low bridge attys and a manual 801 battery, along with a USB passthrough and mains adapter for it. I hope I didn't make any mistakes buying this stuff.

Anyway, it seems the biggest problem I'm having with the dse801 is that I have to keep topping off. I only get 2-3 good hits off it before I gotta take out the cartidge and put some more drops in or try to wet the atomizer and "tailpipe" i think it's called. I checked for some mods, I'm gunna try the pyramid tea bag. But I saw the ADM mod, and it don't seem like you can do it with the 801 carts.

any suggestions?>

Heisenberg,

I can tell you about 801 - sooner or later you will end up with "true" dripping because you already have a head-start with tail-piping.
Just get a 801 Delrin Wide Mouth Contoured T-Tip ($7.99 + $1.25 S/H) from Super T Manufacturing -
(It's in the midle of the page)

I thought tailpipng was true dripping. So what is true dripping?

really, all I get when I tailpipe (i think it's just dripping a bit on the atty and then puffing without the mouthpeice and cartridge) is a strong hit, and maybe a little liquid in my mouth if I ain't carefull. I still have to add 2 drops at a time. I get like 4 puffs I think. I've only had the thing for barely two days now.

"Just sharing my opinion: DSE-801's are complete and total crap. I'm not sure why people like these on here so much. It took all freakin day to chartge the batteries, the vapor production was low, and the atomizers wouldn't burn all the ejuice sometimes (ejuice to the mouth ew), frequently overheated and shut off - I really dont know why people praise them on ECF so much"

Do you say this cos the dse801 isn't really all that strong or great?

Not at all.
801 is great for what it worth - big atomizer for big 1 ml cartridge which produce a very good warm, smooth and tasty vape.

Penstyle isn't that popular these days compare to something like 510.
Yes if you want harsher hits then try 510, but for smoothness go with 801 IMO.

Your question about batteries:
I never had a full 801 set but am using this atty with a mod which has no proprietary battey. In my case it's a 16340 LiOn 880 Mah battery with Super T1 mod and it last me around 6-7 hours heavy vaping vs 1-2 hrs with any model proprietary battery.
BTW cost is consideration too - this particular 16340 battry cost just couple bucks DealExtreme: $5.21 TrustFire Protected 3.6V 880mAh 16340/CR123A Batteries (2-Pack)

It's just a matter of opinion based on very little experience. Like with any new toy there is a learning curve, people have to be patient and not jump to conclusions.

Yep! It's time fer you to looks into gett'n erself a modified E-Smok'n machine wifa 18650 battery dat will last a day or two. I direct drip onto a 400 series atom wiff a drip tip. the 510 atomizer is also a good atom but I seem to have less leakage wif da 401.......Hecknaw

I'm new to vaping and I'm totally diggin my DSE801 just because I've tried my buddys SuperMini. And vapor and taste was laughable, just doesnt give you that strong throat hit like the dse801 and I guess I'm lucky when it comes to production of vapor. Because my dse801 out of the box took only a couple of hard hard long hits before it started making nice vapors. I'm not saying its cigar or even cigarette type smoke but its like taking a nice drag of a cigarette. On the other hand I'm using my dse801 of blank cartridges and dripping e-liquid in the cartridge and 4 drops to prim the atty ...

I want and I'm looking for one that will make cigar type plums of vapor. And I've been lurking for awhile before taking this plunge and I think I'll do the buzz mod and see how that goes...

What's the buzz mod???

I get nice hits from the dse801 don't get me wrong. Nice throat hit, nice vapor. It's just that it's not consistant. It's only after I prime the atty. And I don't like taking out the cart and dripping on the atty. Especially since I get covored with liquid that isn't being used!!

The pyramid tea bag mod helped. I have to try a few more carts to get it right. But its supposedly walking a line when using penstyles.

I might just have to get that drip tip. But one of the reasons I went for the penstyle is the mouthpeice. I love it.

Heisenberg, I think your first instinct to look for a mod like the Chuck was the right one for you. Here's a link to a good list of mods. e-Cig Battery Tube Mods | eCigarette-Mods.com
I'd go with one that uses an 18650 battery (like a big Chuck). It'll go at least a day and a half for ya on a charge and you can put in a couple CR123s if you want 6 Volts.
Besides, if you order a Chuck you can get custom graphics on it. Maybe a graphic of some blue crystals or something.
