Which one do you like and why? Are the auto batteries as easy to flood and ruin as they are on the other models? I like the no hands vaping you can do with the autos but really hated going thru 2-3 batteries a week. And since the kr8 batts are more expensive I want to make sure I'm going to get the right one for me.

Also, are the XL batteries really as good as as people say they are? How much difference is there between them and the regular ones?

I apologize for not just reading and finding all this out for myself but I have a bad headache and can't take too much light and reading right now so I'm taking the easy way out and asking the V4L experts. Thanks everyone!

Edit to add: Can they be charged in a 901 USB charger or do I need one especially for the KR8?

I started off with the manuals but went to the autos, I like the lighter draw. Yes you can flood them but it's not that much of an issue with cartomizers as long as you aren't sloppy with your refilling.

The biggest difference with the xl is they last a long long time, I get a good eight hours of use if not more. Definitely my favorites!

Not sure on the charger.

Thanks Taryn. I spend all day on my computer doing something, being on here, playing games, other sites, my life is my computer. I would love the ease of being able to just take a hit and not have to stop what I'm doing to push a button but I'm scared to death of killing off the batteries the way I did in the beginning with my 901. I think I'll fill a few of the blanks I have and see how I do with that before I decide which ones to order.

from what i understand it's not as easy to kill these autos--and if you do kill one shortly after getting it, you can strong arm a replacement out of V4L pretty easy. they're big softies.

the autos i started out with are doing just fine, a month later, and my hubs has all autos, and is hard on his stuff, and none of died on him. having said that, i'm personally interested in equipment being as reliable as possible, and prefer not to worry about overfilling etc any more than i have to, so i switched to manuals early on and love them. i really dig the XLs because they have a long batt life and vape so prettily fully charged, but i have a shorty man'l and a reg man'l that i like for other reasons (fitting in the PCC, being inconspicuous) and they both vape very well too.

i started out with autos -- two shorties and two regs, and i'm just close to the month mark and they're all still working fine. ONE of the shorties, though, i think i stuck a pipe cleaner too far into the center hole when cleaning... even with massive thread cleaning and cleaning out the air holes, it's still a very 'loose' drag and i don't get much vape unless i'm sucking my brains out -- but, it still works, and i believe that was operator error on my part.

that said ...

i decided to give the manuals a try, and just to have more batts on hand when i was able to afford them. i got a reg, and an XL. and i was sketchy on the XL because it's not a very practical size, lol. but the vape on it is GREAT. i like the manuals, too, because there's less of a chance of juice leaking into the batt if you happened to overfill a cart, whereas i hear that can happen with autos and potentially wreck them.

now that i'm not so much in the 'must have it be as much like smoking cigs as possible' mode, i like the manuals better. they have a warmer vape to them, and a better throat hit to me. but for going out or bars or just to have it be more 'smoking like' (LOL) i will probably always be sure to have a shorty and a reg auto on hand.

I really appreciate all the answers you have given me. I've been vaping for almost a year. I can tell you all you'd want to know about a 510, 901 and a Chuck, lol I feel like a noob with the cartomiser thing, lol I just filled a blank carto with my (in)famous Blackberry Brandy and I'm letting it sit a little while like has been suggested in other areas of this section. I can't wait to try it out though. Not sure I'll be able to wait until tomorrow.

I have agreed with the hubby to wait until the first of the month to order anything else so I have plenty of time to see if I'll wreck the auto batts like I did the auto 901s.

And while I'm thinking of it, you all have so messed with my organization of my ecig gear. I had everything a place and everything in its place. Now I have to re-arrange to fit cartos in somewhere, lol I have cartos laying all over my table, lol

the carto chaos will slow down once you get your flavors and refill methods sorted. ;) and depending on the VK1 that's coming out... i just might hit you up on some Chuck info. :D

I am seriously thinking about getting the adapter so I can use the cartos on my Chuck too. It is set for a 510 right now. I really love my Chuck and think I would love it even more if I didn't have to drip and could just pop a carto on it and go.

A few bucks well-spent for an adapter, IMO - makes your equipment that much more versatile for a small investment.

I have adapters on my Silver Bullet & BB. V4L cartos is all I use now. There's no going back for me. Who would want to? :D

Yeah, I think I need to just go ahead and order it. I think I will right after I get done with this post, lol

I am fast seeing the way of the cartomizer and I have to say I'm loving it. I have barely touched my Chuck today and usually that is glued to my hand. I broke out my 901 manual batts and put the adapter on one and have been using those all day. I almost couldn't find my 901 charger its been so long since I used it,lol Ok, on my way to getting the adapter for my 510 Chuck.

+1 for cartomizers on the Chuck. I've tried most of the different atty's out there, and cartomizers has become the answer for me. So much so, that I just built 2 box mods with the cartomizer connector. Sold off all my other atomizers. V4L cartoz be allz I needz.

Oh, and to stay on topic with the OP. Manual is the only option for me.

Why do you like the manuals so much?

I guess I'm a bit of a control freak. No automatic battery is gonna tell me when my drag is over. Hahahaha. Really it's because I like the huge battery life of my mods, and they all have manual buttons.

That makes perfect sense. I have a 401 also and have a few 403 auto batts for when I'm doing some serious gaming, lol I can just hold it like a regular cig and puff when I want to and not miss a beat. I think I'm leaning more towards manual batts but I have until the first of the month to deicde.

Why not just go with a PT if you are at your computer most of the time? Although I admit I like the flavor better on a battery. Most of them anyways.

I was just gonna ask the same thing, Taryn. I'm on my computer all day, so I just use the PT. It does go through carts faster, but more vapor and flavor. I bring my shorty autos to work with me, though I really only need one. I have yet to run out of charge in a standard 8 hour work day with drive time.

I've used other PTs and to me the flavor is less. It just doesn't seem to taste as good with one, well to me anyway. I don't mind charging batts at all. I have a pretty neat set-up for charging going on so it isn't that much trouble for, what seems to me, more flavor I appreciate the thought and the advice though. Been vaping quite awhile but feel like a noob with the cartos, lol
