I was having some issues with the Vapeonly BCC with dry hits. I've taken a wick out, and that helps, but I still have problems with it. I don't want this to sound as whiny as it sounds in my own head but.. I have to take a good hard hit (without firing) to pull the liquid into the coil head... and it gives me a headache after a bit.

I don't know if it's because I have major TMJ issues or it's because I already have chronic migraines, but is there another way of doing this?

typically a well built coil+wick doesn't require extreme saturation to behave. I'd take a look at whats wrong over there
maybe there is a short between the coil and the hull or between the coil wraps themselves causing temperature bias to a smaller area or
maybe the coil is too loose or too tight either allowing the heat to ramp up too fast or choking the liquid movement
maybe its just dirty and clogged from all the liquid already burned on it
maybe the legs are poorly constructed and heat up way before the coil does (most common in my experience)

Best strip out all the non essentials and have a dry burn to see how the coil lights up, either way you'll never get a perfectly stable vaping experience from a factory made coil IMO so you're going to have to learn how to fiddle with it or better yet build your own.

I am not familiar with that particular device. But if it is anything like the protank series you will want to at the least change the head out. You might just have a bad one. I vape 50vg/50PG juices on protanks and evods all the time and I do not have to take primer puffs at all. I DO let them sit a good 10-15 minutes after I fill them to let the coils saturate well.

If the head is similar to a protank or evod head rebuilding it is quite simple and very inexpensive. A roll of 30 gauge kanthal and some 100% cotton balls and some way to measure the ohms of the coil and check for shorts are all you need. Rip Tripper has a good video on rebuilding the protank. I promise if this little old lady can do it nearly anybody can :)

Oh goodness you two are sending me into dangerous territory, family already thinks I'm off the deep end with my love of all things ecig, but that's nothing new so I'll check it out.

I've swapped out so many coils already thinking it might do the trick but unless I take a pull before actually firing it, I'll almost certainly get a dry hit. I've pulled apart several coil heads checking for signs of burning or residue buildup but they've all come up clean.

The only reason I found that I could avoid a dry hit by taking a hit was because I had just turned on my evic and went to take a hit right away, but because it was still doing it's resistance test it didn't fire and I noticed a little trail of bubbles coming from the base.

Pulling on the unit without firing is a good way to prime it. You can let it sit for 15 minutes so to make sure it has had time to get the wicks saturated. I always do pulls without firing even after they have soaked for a while. If I get the hint of the flavor in the juice it lets me know I the coils are wet.

I had the same issues with my ismoka bcc mega which is the same thing and I ended up taking tweezers and removing a few strands of wick and after several times of testing I got it just right. I'm talking a tiny strand at a time, then try it then repeat. It's a pain and it gets old to do that with each coil. I have a few fine tuned right now that I keep in rotation soaking in vodka.

I hate to drag a thread from the graveyard but in case anyone stumbles onto this thread looking for dry hit issues specifically with the Vapeonly BCC's, via the search option or however, I found another factor for why I was having such issues with this particular clearomizer. Vapeonly has a unique design, BCCs like the M/T3s, Evod, Protanks etc, their coil head screws into the base whereas with the Vapeonly the coil head is held in by a rubber gasket. (If anyone wants/needs a visual here is PBusardo's YouTube review queued to the moment he shows a comparison A PBusardo Review - The Vape Only BCC - YouTube Excellent review in full if you're interested in getting this clearo.)

I found that the coil head was pushed in too far perhaps. I found if I pushed in so it was just snug, instead of pushing until it can't go any farther, then screwing the base to the tank portion, letting the post push it down. Doing that left a slight gap between wick and the gasket without any leaking. It has definitely helped, if like me you're a chain vaper an occasional primer puff may be necessary to help it wick the liquid enough to keep up with you.
