AW 18650 2000mah vs 2200mah

This is my first time starting a thread at the adult table so please don't yell at me. Or if you must, try to keep the naughty words to a minimum. . .

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has experience with both the 2000mah and the newer 2200mah versions of AW 18650 batteries and if so is there a huge difference in performance and longevity. . .

Thanks. I like short answers, especially when they have meaning like yours did. . .

Incidentally, I've been led to believe that the mah difference is what allows for a longer vape. Regarding the amps I think the 2000mah batteries are rated at 10 amps and the 2200mah batteries are rated at 20 amps. What does that mean to someone like me whose only verifiable knowledge is knowing the difference between an elephant and a not an elephant (and even that isn't always easy). . .

Amp limit relates to the ability of the battery to produce the current that a low resistance coil requires. Ohm's Law.

If using a regulated mod that requires high drain batteries, generally a 10amp battery will suffice. A higher amp limit battery is OK to use, but not necessary.

If using a mechanical mod with rebuildable atty and super low resistance coils, it is beneficial to have a battery with the highest possible amp limit.

Using a mod with a battery that is not rated for the draw that is placed on the battery is dangerous. Batteries are stored energy, just like a gas can. If a battery is drawn beyond its limits it can go into thermal runaway and possibly vent and/or explode.

Not a short answer, but it needed a little more explaining.

Get the AW 2200, becasue they are superior all around. There are other brands of batteries that provide higher amp limits, but I don't think that's the direction you're going.

Thank you Dougie! I seem to have a mental block about batteries even after reading the charts and Baditude's posts. You're explanation is very helpful.

To the OP:
I've been using the Efest 18650 2000 mAh batteries in my Sigelei V5 and Sigelei 20W since June. Last week I ponied up for the new AW 18650 2200 from RTD. They ARE giving longer life and I haven't had any problems with them in this short time.

From the official Provape link:

"2. Batteries - There are three main types of batteries for the ProVari. The first one is the AW 18350. This is the shortest of the three batteries and is used in the Mini exclusively. This battery will give you moderate run time and does not require any additional hardware as the ProVari comes with the standard end cap that screws onto the end of the tube.

18490 - Can be used either in the Mini with the extended end cap or in the standard ProVari with the standard end cap. This battery will give you good run time and does not require additional hardware if you use it with the standard ProVari.

18650 - The AW 18650 is a longer battery which will operate for a longer period of time than the shorter 18490 before the battery needs to be recharged. With the longer battery you will also need to purchase the extended end cap. Since the 18650 battery is physically longer in size in order to use these you will need the extended end cap for them to fit."

Yes sir. They're the same size as the 2000mah, with better performance. Surprised provape hasn't started selling them on their site....

It shouldn't make a difference to anyone, and... not to split hairs, but the 2200 is a fraction of a millimeter larger than the 1600 or 2000. I ordered 4 of the 2200's and love them.

For me, the 2200 is on par with the 1600, and much better than the 2000. I use them in my Provari and Reo Grand. I don't see performance gains in my Provari, because it's designed to maintain a certain voltage- even as battery drains, but the 2200's SHINE in my mechanical Reo. My Reo is notorious for voltage drop, so performance can be an issue with low ohm builds. The 20 amp 2200 (In relation to the 10 amp 2000) provides more than enough power to overcome this.

I love the new 2200's. Buy with confidence, just make sure they are genuine AW.
