Well im vaping today and my carto starts to clog up and wont pull good so i continue to try to vape for about 10 min . I then changed the carto and took a pull and it would not hit good so i go and check the 2 AWR IMR 14500 and was shocked . One cell was at 2.51v and the other 3.15v . WHAT ? I immiadiatly pulled them and put them on concrete . I check my batts very often with a DMM . an hour or two before this i checked and they were both at 3.86 exactly on both batteries . Normally at that voltage i have easily another 6 hours before they even reach 3.5 . I have been vaping less today as well so i know theirs know way they can get that low without something wrong going on .

Do you think i should attempt to charge the cells back up ? Do you think maybe the clogged carto drained the batteries that fast or maybe the carto short circuited ? Btw this is only the 5th charge of these cells and iv had them for about 1.5 weeks . Both always get used together . Im kind of afraid to put another pair of cells in my mod as the other set i have in rotation is trustfire flames protected which might have exploded if it happened to them instead of the IMR's . Any help is greatly appriciated .Need some quick responses .

To add i checked my mod for shorting of the batt connector and the mod seems fine . I did check the carto and it was shorted however i checked it after poking inside it with a needle to unclog it so it may have shorted from that after the problem .

EDIT: Its been 20 mins from the last time i checked the batteries voltages when they were at 2.51 and 3.15 and now they are reading 2.71 and 3.17 . Wtf does that mean . How did the voltage on the lower one raise .20v in 20 min of sitting .

The voltage was probably reading lower initially because they were warm from being used. After cooling for a bit the voltage came up a bit and stabilized. You can try to recharge them. The one at 3.15 should still charge ok. The other one might be dead. When you put them on the charger just make sure the charging lights light up like they normally would when charging. If one or both do not light up like normal throw that battery away. My best guess is that your carto was shorting and drained the batts super fast. I have had that happen myself.

They actually werent even warm when pulling them right away . If they were i would have probably tossed them outside real quick .

Anyway i did put them both on my Pila charger and both of them did charge back up and when i pulled them off at green light they are reading 4.18 on both . Seem to be holding as well as a couple hours later both are the same . Havent used them yet as i still have the TF's in my mod which is also working great . The problem looks like it must have happened from either extended current draw from the clogged carto or a short in the carto . That carto i was using was a boge std which i have already refilled about 15 times without cleaning so it was at the end of its life anyway . Well the carto made it 14 refills working great with no clog problems and then the 15th time i guess the walls swelled the airhole closed . Cant complain about that .

Make sure you rotate your stack. Have them numbered a1-a2 and so on. The battery closest the atty always drains faster in the stack. By rotating them you equalize their use and build up of internal resistance over time.

Yes you had a bad carto, OTOH when performance drops with IMRs it is always better to put in a fresh set than try and troubleshoot with the old. There is no protection circuit with IMRs therefore very easy to go below the LV threshold of the batt. In this case swapping out batts would have indicated a faulty carto. 14 refills is damn good. Start thinking about the gash bucket after 10 :)
