Awful first 2 days

I could not get the satisfaction either. Only been vaping for about a week and a half. I found that the taste went away to fast, burnt taste, problem with wicks too fast. I found a wickless CE 5 top and my attitude changed real quick. Just fill it, screw it on and vape. The draw is consistently smooth, taste is consistent. I had an EVOD bottom feeder and kept forgetting to take off clearomizer upside down and spilled liquid ( lol ). I smoked Marlboro, 1 to 2 packs a day for over 20 years. I am now happy. Just get the right set up that is easy for you. I did find that the thinner liquids worked better for me........Good Luck. I see nothing but positives to this world of vaping. Trick is to find what works for you.

You said you started with the voltage way down then cranked it way up? Did you stop somewhere in the middle, say around 3.8? Assuming you have roughly a 2.2 coil, there are lots of juice that may start to taste burned above 4.0 or higher. If you've burned the juice or the coil, try washing out the tank and putting in a new coil and new juice, and then stopping around 3.8 ? Perhaps? Just a thought!

I haven't read all the replies sorry. But...

There's a learning curve with vaping. You have to figure out your nic level, find a juice you like and learn how to drag differently than w/ analogs. After that vaping gets awesome.

I coughed after every hit from my first setup for the first 2 weeks. It was horrible. Eventually got it all sorted out.

Good luck.

typically i use lowest settings on my variable voltage battery...then i can turn it up as needed, but i dont get all crazy...just tiny adjustments to warm it up, not cook the coil/juice.

i also rebuild my coils and use cotton (sterile cotton balls from CVS, $3 a box) so that i get better flavor from my Kanger mini Protank IIs

it takes some time to get used to doing all that stuff, but ive gotten far better vapor from rebuilt coils than from stock Kanger heads.

In my blog entries is a post about rebuilding Kanger coils, and some tools I use to do that easily.

juice:

get good juice, you have to really read a bit and see what folks use/enjoy and take a chance here or there. get small bottles/samples and test stuff to see if you like it.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ussion/304212-top-5-vendors-e-liquid-286.html

this is a long thread where folks here suggest or list their favorite 5 vendors - there are hundreds listed.

I like (in no order):

Ahlusion.us - I pretty much wiped out a 30ml bottle of blueberry-vanilla cake.

Nicoticket - Custards Last Stand, Betelguise, Altered State...I enjoyed all those.

Alice in Vapeland - Im in the process of destroying a 30ml bottle of April Moon (apricot and I think blueberry...I enjoy it). AiV has 5 3ml samples for about 12 bucks plus shipping.

Mad Murdock (they have odd flavors, Pluid and Maha Ras for example, but their Mellow Melange is really tasty to me - cinnamon toast-y juice).

A note about Bobas Bounty - its a strong flavor and tobacco based. A lot of vapers prefer to ignore the tobacco flavors since thats what they are trying to avoid. But a few vapers prefer it, since everyone's taste differs. Alien Visions has the real Boba's, there is some other vendor that pops up if you google the name of Boba's and its a fake copy of the real stuff from Alien Visions.

Verify Your Age To Enter Alien Visions E-Juice Website thats where Boba's is found.

Getting *your* good vape is a learning process and part of it is related to getting your gear to give you vapor you can tolerate and part of it is finding really yummy juices. It takes a couple of weeks usually. But DO camp here and ask questions and read read read.

Everyone here has gone through the same situation, basically. And at the least if you are not using tobacco then you are better off, so you can start with that success. Even if you do use some tobacco occasionally and then use some juice more and more often you will be better off in the long run.

I liek peas.

Thanks again for the replies.

I think I am closer to my ideal setup compared to when I started this thread just a couple of hours ago. The juice is making all of the difference and found one I like. I was tempted to immediately toss my first 4 juices which tasted AWFUL....well at least for me :2cool: But I will save them and see if my tastes change in time.

Open the caps and let them air out for a couple days somewhere dark. Cover the openings over with paper towel or something. Let 'em steep. You might be surprised. That, and your taste buds will go through some changes after quitting smoking.

Also, as an aside, some juices taste better a little hotter/cooler than others. Take a look here for a wattage/resistance/voltage chart. It'll give you a little better idea what you are doing when you saw around on the voltage, given the resistance of whatever head you are using. There are a bazillion other charts on the internet if you google "wattage vaping chart." I just like that one because I am kinda color blind. Personally, I vape around 7 to 7.5-ish watts for about everything.

1st things 1st. I would recommend some good old Boge cartomizers in standard resistance. Google the condom method to fill them. Then start out low and slowly turn up the volts. No matter how many clearomizers I have tried they have all always tasted burnt to me. If cartomizers taste better and I am betting they will then try a carto tank next. Don't give up! I think some of us just have a super sensitivity to the slightest burnt taste while others vape on burnt coils all day and never notice until another vaper nearly gags from the smell. I have 2 friends like that. Sure vapes has a good price on them with free shipping. Good luck and don't give up. It takes some trial and error to figure out what works best for each of us in the beginning. Once you find what works for you it will be smooth sailing from there on out.
