I stopped in at a new brick and mortar here in Amherst and I walked out almost as quickly as I did. I admit, as I sat in my car, that I was disappointment and sickened by the state of it. That disappointment quickly turned to a bit of anger and here is why I was troubled.

The store was filled with illegal drug paraphernalia. How on earth are we suppose to continue to push the use of vaporizers as a healthier alternative when the store are cheek to jowls in illusions to illegal activities.

It makes me grumpy

That is so sad. Makes you wonder if they are serious about the e-cig as a alternative to smoking or if they just included them to make their store more accepted in the area.

I feel there are a lot of places that have the e-cig as an add-on sales opportunity. They are not there to support the vaping community.

It does nothing for promoting the use of a healthier alternative to smoking.

Vendors, generally speaking, aren't in the business to promote anything but their wallet.

We've had vendors (mainly from the US, unfortunately) from TVECA actively and purposefully backstabbing the vaping community - their customers - in our backs this week, just because, my guess, they saw a way to eliminate the smaller manufacturers and increase their own market share.

Edit: This is in the EU, of course.

Our legit stores here have signs that say you'll be told to leave if you ask about illegal stuff. The local head shop got closed down by protests from the community just a couple months after it opened. We stopped in there once to check out the vape stuff. Walgreens and our local gas station had a better selection. I'm glad it's gone. They weren't helping anyone. :p

We have some really, really nice vape stores here in Tulsa. Vapor Kings opened their first store about 2-1/2 years ago, and now they have six locations! And every single one is a class act. They are very, very nice vape lounges....absolutely no taint of anything but vape gear and juice. They have couches and coffee tables, tables and chairs, a testing bar, coffee machine/soft drink machines, and friendly, courteous, knowledgeable help. That's the way to do it.

There's a "smoke shop" in my town. I stop in once in a while when in a juice emergency (and I happen to really like the grape he carries). They have all things tobacco, hooka, and many things intended for other purposes. There are a couple showcases of vaping stuff, but it's not a very good selection (ego, tanks, more tanks and more tanks, and a couple cheap storage cases). The guy keeps trying to tell me he can get good liquid and to let him know when I find what I like and he will order it. No thanks, I'll just order it myself. Wish I had a REAL vape shop close by. He SAYS they do a good business with vaping stuff, but I don't know...

Well, since the vaping community is still growing it could have been a shop for vaporizers used for that illegal stuff its probably owners that did little research as to what it really is my girlfriend went online to buy me a case and she bought it off a online vape store but it was a vape store for ......... products

rabernet, I'm in the same area as you. What vape bar are you talking about?

Probably not the new one here in Atlanta ;) I'm not a big fan of their juices, but at least they have a large selection and it's free.

The bigger problem I've had with the local B&M's here, is the lack of knowledge yet boasted whatever they think might be the right answer as gospel... sales is sales I guess.

I think a lot of head shops would also have customers who would be smokers as well. So it gives them the opportunity to expand their business for their regular customers. It might also expose some new smokers to ecigs and help some people quit. I have a problem when they advertise and market like it's their primary business.

I also have a problem with most B&Ms they really do nothing to educate their employees, but I also blame the employee, If they spent an 1hr a week on ECF doing research they'd be so much better at their job. I ran into the same thing when I was into saltwater reef systems most of those B&Ms gave horrible advice and their stock would have looked so much better and been able to sell at higher prices had they spent any time on the ECF of the Reef world.

It's down on Broadway - I think near Martini's - I haven't been yet.

I know where you're talking about. It's actually in Martin's. Doesn't seem like my kind of crowd. A little too hip-hop for me.

Hey GreenandWhite, I happened upon your posts by accident and noticed that you mentioned you went to a shop in Amherst at which point I thought I wonder if she means Amherst, New York and sure enough you did! I was born and raised in the Buffalo area and my sister actually still lives in Getzville my brother in Orchard Park and my other sister in Rochester.
Fortunately we now live in California where there is a abundant supply of brick and mortars to choose from.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Dan...
And to drive the point home even further here in the state of California it is a shame that I can't even drive down the street and take a vape with out some friggin cop pulling me over to ensure that I'm not using an illegal substance.
I tell you it pisses me off to no end!
