Got some of those XL ceramic-pot type cartos.. supposed to have no filler. So I use my syringe and fill, and vape..

It tastes absolutely terrible. Getting vapor, but the taste, it's just horrendous. Like burning plastic or rubber or something. Granted, I only used 1, but I don't want to waste more liquid on these if they're bad.

They're definitely completely filled.. Can't imagine what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions?

adeline, are they the 2.4-2.6ohm ones? If they are, there's a kind of fix that worked for me. There's a piece of heatshrink that goes from halfway up the cup a little down the tube. You can take a very sharp razor or an x-acto knife and gently cut that off. It should work.

DISCLAIMER: This may not help you, but it helped me, also the ce2 guts are really fragile. Try to keep the cup in one place so that it does not slide up or down the tube, and don't let the wires get any stress on them. Removing this heatshrink MAY make your ce2 more likely to leak or flood, so keep that in mind, but since then I've cut that heatshrink bit off of all of my 2.4ohm ce2's.

I've since got another 5pack of ce2's in 2.8ohm and they're fantastic, no leaks no gurgle, great taste. I broke the cup on one trying to take the silicone fill-cap off but the other 4 are kickin. The e2r4's from Clouds of vapor are the new ones, the oldones were the ce2 r4 from madvapes in 2.4-2.6.

I have noticed that certain flavors don't taste the same out of a ce2 as they do an atty/carto. Mostly anything with a vanilla or bakery type flavor. Fruity and tobacco flavors seem fine for the most part. I think that some parts of the flavoring in some juices don't wick properly, which separates the flavors and makes them taste weird.

Once a ce2 gives you a burned taste, you will probably have to clean and dry burn it to get the burn taste out. There are several youtube vids on this, but after you dry burn you need to gently wipe off the white ash that is left on the coil before you fill the cartomizer again. I don't remember any of the vids mentioning that.

I agree that some flavors don't quite work on a ce2 but in my brief experience I've learned that there are 2 causes for a ce2 tasting like molten plastic.

1, the heatshrink that I mentioned above
2, the silicone fill cap can tear apart and sometimes there are loose bits that come close to the coil and get atomized with the juice. This can be fixed by taking out the fill cap and snipping off any loose bits. However this is far less likely than problem #1.

Also if you're vaping at high voltage 5 or 6v, even the 3.2ohm clearo's don't wick fast enough to keep up so you'll be smoking wick.

I'm using the black metal ones (not clear).. 3.1 ohms.. XL for my ego.

Okay, so I take out the white mouthpiece, the clear rubber o-ring, then I see the other rubber stopper thing. How do I safely take it out? And what does this heatshrink look like? Or the coil? This one carto I have is wasted but it's loaded with juice, so I'll take it apart, but carefully.

Thanks for your responses!!

I don't know much about the metal CE2's, or the taste of burning plastic. My clear CE2's tasted like burnt axle grease until I tool them apart and cleaned thoroughly under the tap. Then blot dry good. I then did a dry burn (7-8 2 second burns) so the wick would clear itself and expel any water. I think these things come with solder-paste, grease, and god knows what all already on them. Once cleaned mine where fantastic.
I also tried an ultrasonic cleaner for a few cycles (in a shot glass of Everclear). Works great also. For the clear ones you just have to clean them good. The metal ones may be made different though.

Quite honestly I havent been able to gently take the metal off of mine yet. The stopper you can take off with a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers. Find the spot that doesn't look like its got a white ceramic cup under it, should be 2 black spots near the metal. Get a grip with the pliers or tweezers and firmly but gently yank it straight up.

After that I've got no clue how to get it off of its base. The Clear ones pulled off very easily, the metals not so much. The overall goal is to screw it into a battery and simply yank the casing off, but it's not that easy with the metal ones. Shan B uses leverage, aka find something sturdy that barely fits over the casing (like a small steel pipe), then like a lever, rock it gently back and forth until it comes out. If you get that far, the heatshrink looks like a small piece of rubber/plastic wrapped around the cup and tube. The coil is wrapped around the wicks and you dont need to worry about that.

Yes, take out all the rubber seals on the inside, carefully. You can do this by using a tiny flat bladed screwdriver, and start from the middle and pry up the last rubber seal by prying up and outward against the outer wall, while working your way around in a circle until the seal breaks loose. I rinse them in very hot water, and force water into them with a syringe, and then shake vigoursly upside down to shake out the water, and then repeat a few times. I then dry out at 175 degrees in the oven with the door open. I like to make sure they are totally dry, or even let them sit in front of a fan for a day.

I did these with all mine and it worked fantastic.

That being said, I now prefer the boge cartos with the filler, you just have to keep them moist, and no issues, but much better flavor than the CE2

Yes, are these 2.4ohm-2.6ohmm and are they the black ones? Also, are you using a 3.7v device? If so, you can use the PTB (pyramid tea bag) mod on them and they will go from your worst vaping experience, to probably the best you've had yet. As it's been found, they can't wick fast enough and so you get that horrid taste. I and many others had this issue as well. By doing the PTB mod, you will be in vaping heaven with them, and no more bad taste.

one thing that will give you the burnt plastic taste is that botton silicone cup gets pushed down on the coil and is burning. if you look at the cap it has 2 needle holes to fill it go 90 deg from the holes with a paper clip bent to a 90 deg and go threw the middle hole untill you feel it go into the wick holes on the sides and pull it up a little that should help

I bought one package of fluxomizers and i believe they are essentially the same thin. Hey the idea of cartomizers is to get away from fussing...all these instructions just to get them to work...very bad sign. i've been through 2. I don't think they started out full of crud because for the first 10-15 minutes it tasted pretty typical not bad not nirvana. but they both developed a sort of low-flavor plastic taste --i figured they were empty and i'm saving them to fill again but i read elsewhere that its a wick issue (soon to be fixed --yeah sure) the egotanks have a wick issue too...mmh maybe filler isn't such a devil.
