Not sure if this where this belongs but I need some help.

Been using the joyetech RBA coil in my Cuboid mini. This item comes prebuilt with the vertical coil installed. I used it and it works very well, long durability for me. Rated at 0.5 ohms was pulling .46-.48 ohms hovering.

So I decided to finally attempt to re-wad the cotton on the vertical build. Watched a video, attempted it, did a shoddy job but it worked perfect 1st shot, no burnt taste, lasted several days great flavor and draw, running 25-30 watts. Started getting a burnt taste on the last day, figured cause of my shoddy wad job.

Broke it down again, decided to try out and see whats up with the horizontal coil. Placed and installed the cotton as shown in the youtube video for horizontal joyetech RBA builds. Primed it with several drops, then put it in the tank and air primed inhaling on it for several seconds a few times. Fire it up, burnt taste. Messed around with wattage (rated 25w-50w for horizontal) and no matter where I set it burnt taste.

Broke it down, rebuilt it a 2nd time, this time I figured theres not much I could do wrong since it seems like a easier wadding job compared to wrapping a vertical coil. This time turned the wattage up to 30-35w, still same burnt taste.

What am I doing wrong? Junk RBA kit for horizontal builds? Videos on youtube for this particular horizontal rebuild missing something? I ordered some new cotton squares to just go back with the vertical build as I wasted all the cotton I had left messing with this horizontal job.
