Bad flavor?

I have made 3 different atomizers, and I constantly get this strange flavor on them. I am using kanthal wire and silica wick (ss mesh on the way) and I simply can't get rid of this flavor on any of my builds. I am using the RCA atty. I wish I could explain the flavor, sort of burnt caramel/ metallic. The vapor even smells when you take the shell off. Any suggestions? TIA

Did you clean it very well after you were done? I had a similar issue that I found out to be a tiny bit of rosin flux had touched the needle after I assembled it. Try washing in alcohol then boiling.

I will try cleaning it good, but I did not use flux. I will try boiling thanks.

Boiled and now soaking in vodka... Wick, coil, and all.

Flavor issue has been solved. I think the wick and coil just needed to be boiled. Also improved vapor production by adding a hole in the side. Thanks meat
