Bad juice or my palate?

So after the success of my first flavor trials I jumped on the VV bandwagon. I currently have twenty two bottles. Some of these are great, and some flavors are OK. Unfortunately some of the flavors are horrible smelling and the few of those I've been brave enough to try taste even worse. I'm somehow thinking it can't just be my taste since one of them is the widely beloved kona velvet milkshake. Can these juices go bad? What's going on? They have an extremely strong rubbery chemical smell. I've let them steep both open and closed but nothing has helped. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'd hate to think I just threw away money on all these flavors.

Are all of them from the same vendor or different vendors? Some of it may be your perception of the taste but it also could be that you may have a bad batch or it could just be horrible juice.

I've bought some juice that I just can't stand and I end up throwing it away. Some juice is blah and I'll mix with something complementing the flavor or add some menthol to it and it makes it tolerable.

If you're using a VV mod then maybe the voltage is too low or too high for a particular juice. Play with the voltage up/down and see how it changes the flavor.

Hi Lunaria,

It may be residual organic ethyl alcohol in the flavorings in our original line. Some people are very sensitive to it, some are not at all. The best first step would be to uncap the bottles and allow them to breathe for about 24 hours to allow evaporation of the alcohol. This often resolves the issues for most people. (It is extremely unlikely that the juice has gone "bad".)

Our Absolute line has no alcohol, so for those who are extra sensitive to it might have a better flavor experience with the Absolute line. And to be totally honest, it is possible that our e-liquids do not suit your palate, but we hope that's not the case and you find a flavor or three...or four... that you love!

Let us know your results if you try the uncapping/evaporation method...I hope it helps! :)

Requiem, the juices I'm talking about are just the ones I received directly from Virgin Vapors. I have a huge collection of juices from other vendors as well and while some have not been to my taste I have not found this particular problem with any of them. I try them all on a provari/rda setup so I can find the right voltage for best taste.

Kittypie, I have already let them evaporate for several 24 hour sessions with good shaking in between and then let them sit for another two weeks. Still smells of rubber and gives me a terrible headache. The Alcohol I understand as one of the flavors I do love, the spicy chai, did smell like alcohol upon receipt but went away after I left it uncapped. I have flavors from both the absolute line and the standard line to give myself a broad overview of the lineup.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that, Lumaria, I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case. I know it happens, though, including through personal experience. I've ordered from a couple of e-liquid vendors that were highly recommended by people whose opinions I esteemed, only to be disappointed by every single flavor. A couple of times, I've even gone back and ordered again, thinking I must be mistaken! In the end, I end up sending them to the ECF Emergency Needs PIF coordinator. I might suggest listing some of your flavors (include specs) in the swap thread, and swap for something you haven't tried yet, but it sounds like you've tried a fair sampling across the board.

I really don't have an explanation for why they smell so bad for you, I wish there was more I could do. If you don't mind providing batch #'s and your name in a PM, we'll look up your order and cross-reference your order and the batch #s with our log to see if anyone else has reported anything similar with the batch.

I tried both Kona Coffee Milkshake and Kona Velvet Milkshake and didn't really like either. I steeped too. I mean really steeped with the lids off and shook daily. After 3 months, I still wasn't crazy about either. So, it's not just you. There are other coffee vapes that I like a lot more. I'm not all that crazy about 100%vg or high vg, though I've been going more towards that side since I might have a little pg allergy going on. I've tried other high vg juices and I can tolerate them, though they aren't my favorites.

I PIF'ed the milkshake juices and the person that got them said he liked both so I assume the juice was good, just not my thing.

ETA: I have not tried any other VV flavors....

Unfortunately I can't handle the original line either. I am used to all-VG and/or high VG juices, but these just don't agree with me. Kona Coffee Milkshake tastes like it has nicotine in it to me, even though its 0. Kittiepie even replaced my original bottle for me, and still I taste a burn, even two months of steeping including 2 full weeks of cap off. :-( I'm so sad cause I really wanted to love them.

Aw, lissa, I'm sad to hear that too. :( Some people are super sensitive to it and you must be among them. You might be able to swap your KCM in the stickied thread pinned to the top ^^^ of the page. You could also try selling it in the ECF classifieds to help offset your loss.

The Absolute line contains no organic ethyl alcohol (except for the tobaccos), so maybe you could give those a try if you haven't already? I hope you find something you really like!
