A month ago, I started vaping for a healthier alternative due to a tobacco free ban that was soon going to be placed on the Northeastern State campus. I love to vape, I feel better, healthier. I found out recently that the board is trying to add PVs to the list of banned tobacco products and they are adamant about it. I'm really not sure what to do. Any advice or help?

It seems to be the norm.I think we may just have to accept we can't vape where you can't smoke.I would give up on the vaping if they do this.
Like everything else the anti-smoking thing has swung way left, seems there's no happy medium and it's never enough. The winds seem to be blowing more in the direction of more outdoor bans in public places, etc.I see more and more employers implementing not tobacco policies, and I'm talking blood test to check for nicotine,so it looks like it's going to be an uphill battle.

It's really a shame . . . in an effort to promote a healthier environment for students and employees, many colleges and universities (not to mention hospitals) have gone way overboard. In fact, not only are they unnecessarily trampling on the rights of folks to use tobacco outdoors (where there are no known health risks to bystanders), they're also banning low-risk tobacco products. And the irony is that if they really cared about the health of their community, instead of banning all tobacco, they'd EMBRACE low-risk alternatives, such as snus and e-cigarettes.

If you go to CASAA's website, you'll find TONS of information on vaping, including research studies, articles, and pamphlets. I could spend all day browsing the website. :) Maybe if you print out and provide some of that information to the Board, at least a couple of folks might be willing to reconsider a total ban on e-cigarettes.

Also, if you gather the information regarding who is on the Board (including names and addresses) and the specific policy they are thinking about implementing and then give that information to CASAA, I'm betting that CASAA would be willing to write a letter asking the Board to not include e-cigarettes in the ban.

Do you have documentation for the proposal to add e-cigarettes to the ban? Was something posted somewhere? What is their justification? What tobacco products are already included in the ban? And contact information for the board?

There is a CASAA legislative packet you may want to print out and give to the board: http://www.casaa.org/files/CASAA_Legislative_Packet_Regarding_Indoor_Bans_Web.pdf It has a lot of our best stuff in it.
