Hey guy! New vaper here just got my first vaporizer a couple weeks ago! Got a nautilus mini and vv battery. Here's the question I have for all the experienced people here. Every time go to grab my rig I get a bad taste for the first few hits. Then it starts to taste fine. Have I done something wrong! I'm on my second coil. My first coil lasted a week before it started tasting burnt, luckily it came with a extra and I just picked a 5 pack of coils to keep me going. I love my vaporizer! I haven't smoked a cigarette since I got it! So I'm stoked about that! Just confused why the first few puffs taste bad. Thanks for any info you guys have for me!

Congrats on quitting smoking Dmoney421, it's great isn't it?

I just came across another post of someone else on here who was having problems with a Nautilus Mini tank, and like their issue, I think it may be the same or similar to yours. I have the same tank, and have had it for 3 weeks, in those 3 weeks I've went through 3-4 coils. I think there is a problem with some of the Nautilus Mini BVC coils, I've gotten a few duds. The tank is great, but the quality in the coils just doesn't seem to be all there. I would say change out the coil, make sure you let it sit for around 10 minutes after fill up, and then vape away, and hopefully the taste off the second coil is better than the first. Good luck man!

Are you priming your coils before you start vaping with a new coil? Coil Prep for the Aspire Nautilus

The wicking material in these coils needs to be thoroughly saturated before using them, and it takes a while when you first load up a new coil. I like to drip a few drops of juice down into the coil where the mesh screen is then put the coil into the tank and let it sit for ten minutes (with the tank full). Give it a few unpowered primer puffs during these ten minutes. This should make sure you get the wick fully saturated.

If this is happening on a "used coil" cover the air hole and take a few unpowered primer puffs. This will make sure you have juice flowing to your coil.

The last two coils I have primed them with 3-4 drops and let them sit for about 5 minutes. Maybe I need to let it sit for another five minutes before I start. I've actually just today kinda found a way around the bad taste at startup by holding my finger over the hole a taking a couple quick pulls and that helps but feel like I shouldn't have to do that. Next coil change I do I'll prime like usually do and let it sit for a few more minutes and try to prime it better

I read somewhere that there might be a bad batch of coils on the market. But before blaming the coils do make sure you prime the new coil before using it. Just about 3 or 4 drops of juice in the hole so the cotton can soak it up before being fired. You need to do this with all coils...not just Aspire. Not doing this can cause them to burn out prematurely. I vaped for almost a year with this problem before someone at a GOOD vape shop informed me of this. I guess the others just wanted to be sure I was coming back for more coils.

I noticed if I haven't hit a tank or when swapping tanks to a new juice flavor I get the same if I do not give it a few dry prime pulls. I know it should be plenty saturated as it has sat for days but I think the coils may dry out and not get recoated over time when not being fired regularly. Probably has a lot to do with which kind of coils and tanks you use and the wick design I bet.

Pretty sure there's a bad lot of coils out there. I have this tank myself and two of the five coils I last bought just about put me on the ground with the burnt taste. Not the kind of throat hit I'm looking for. I'm a supervisor at a manufacturing plant (not vape related) and I know how easy it can be for a bunch of bad units to wind up in a semi trailer.

Not really sure if there's any work-around other than swapping coils. Besides this, the Nat Mini is my favorite non-rebuildable tank by far.
