Im having bariatrics surgery, I have to have 2 blood tests with zero nicotine in them. Will vaping with 0% nicotine, show on a blood test? My doctor says yes
Hi and welcome,

I don't understand; when was your most recent use of nicotine?

When will the first test be performed?

Where are you located?

Perhaps taking an at home test from a local pharmacy or Amazon might be a way to help reassure you that the blood test(s) will return no surprises.

    Welcome to ecf @chrissyjewell

I certainly wouldn’t give advice contrary to your doctor’s. It can take two or more weeks for nicotine to leave your system. I just can’t figure how vaping zero nicotine would show up on a test.

Kinda, but not related. I was vaping while shopping for cars a couple of weeks ago. The sales guy told me he still smokes because his doctor told him vaping was worse than smoking.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's not the 0 nic you should worry about, it's the previous usage. Previous usage could show in the blood at levels high enough to trigger a positive test result for quite some time. 1 month or more, according to various google-picked sources and internet armchair experts. Urine can be much shorter.

    Good luck.

Sorry, that was a really vague question, wasn't it? I haven't had nicotine in almost 3 months, so the 0% vapes help, i've just been scared to do the blood test, so I have been putting it off. Im in St louis, I can take the blood test whenever really.

I think you'll be fine. If it really worries you though they sell nicotine test kits that will give you a result from home. I use the ones for MJ and they never led me wrong.

Yeah but aren't those urine tests? OP is getting a blood test.

But I agree that after 3 months of 0 nic OP is likely in the clear. I doubt cotinine is detectable in a blood test after 3 months...but I actually don't know.

To be safe, obviously, no vape is the way to go. But if you are mixing your own 0 nic juice then you know for sure it has 0 nic in it and if you use clean everything (including tank/atty) to vape that 0 nic, there would be no reason why 0 nic juice would contain nicotine.

Of course the doc would say that, if you’re gonna quit smoking you need a prescription from a pharmaceutical company, one that just happens to provide vacations.. I mean continuing education in comfortable settings for said doc!
