I have several tobaccos so it depends on what flavor I want to enjoy. A good base to start is from scubabatdan:

TA (tobacco Absolute), and EM (Ethyl Maltol) is a great base. It allows to to add pretty much any other flavor to it. This is my tobbaco base concoction. Unfortunatly the seedmans darkens it up alittle, but it is fairly clear at 10%.

You will need the following:

Perfumers Apprentice - Cotton Candy 2 x 1oz

TOB506 Commercial Cigarette Concentrate 4 x 1/2oz

Perfumers Apprentice - Tobacco Absolute (1. Pure) 1 x 2.5ml

Now, the cotton candy from perfumer apprentice is ethyl maltol suspended in PG @ 10%, warm the cotton candy and the 2.5ml of TA (tobacco absolute) in a sink of HOT water.

Get a 4oz bottle to add everything into, uncap the cotton candy and pour it all into the 4oz bottle, then uncap the TA, it will not be thick now as the hot bath has made it thinner. Use a pipette (note the TA will stain the pipette so use this pipette only for TA) and put .3ml of TA into the cotton candy (About 6 drops). Now cap the cotton candy and shake until it is mixed. Now add the seedmans concentrate to the cotton candy and shake until mixed.

The result is a approx 120ml of tobacco base that is very satisfying IMO @ 10%, and you can add hazelnut or peanut flavor to your mix to give it a nutty flavor. Add vanilla, black cherry, or caramel to give it those notes.
When adding menthol us it at 3% to the 7% tobacco base.
Well hope this helps.

Michaelsil1: If I remember from some of your other posts you really like the Hangsen RY1. I have not tried it to date. I only have Hangsen RY4, Virginia and T5. So you use this as your main base and go from there? What do you like adding to it?

I was given this recipe: add one drop Hangsen RY1 per ml (more isn't better).

I was really surprised at how good it tastes and I don't add anything to it.

This was my first DIY. I used Hangsen Virginia as a base for my mix. Does anyone have a certain tobacco flavor that you use on a consistent basis for your DIY or does it depend on what you are mixing?

I plan on picking up some of the Hangsen flavors on my next order. I have several FA and TFA flavors that I like. One that I just recently tried and really like is the double RY4 from TFA. Absolutely requires a long steep time though.

I picked up Seedman Commercial, on the advice of this forum. I have not tried it yet, however. I'm also curious to find this out because all of the tobacco flavors I've tried premixed from vendors always taste like pine trees, sticks, dirt, or burnt leaves - or any combinations of those flavors.

Too much of this will make it sem like you are sucking on a tobacco root. Good stuff. Sparingly.

Tobacco Blend (PG) TFA is really not made for standalone tobacco flavor. It adds too. It brings throat hit and acid feel in the mouth like a real cigarette or as close as it can come. I use it as a tobacco base to flavors I want tobacco hit in but not to dominate(no other tobacco flavor). Which is all my mixes except the ones that have a tobacco flavor. Then I use it for the same reason with a tobacco flavor because some of them are lacking in those same areas as non-tobacco flavors. Some are not though. Most tobacco flavors already have a pretty good amount of TA in them or that is their actual base(some form of TA). Some don't. You have to sample. I only have 2 tobacco flavors I don't add Tobacco Blend to. Everything else gets it. All my tobaccos are TFA, FW, and FA.
Then you have to throw Vape Wizard or Smooth in there if your doing just tobacco. It really does improve it. Just remember they are some form of tobacco extract themselves but don't add lot's of tobacco flavor to the mix they just enhance. They are focused more on perception of flavor than flavor.

Ive only been vaping for a few weeks and all of the popular juices recommended on this site that I have tried are too sweet or flavorful for my tastes so...

I tried flavorless 18mg PG/VG. Finally something I could vape all day. A bit bitter. then I tried RY6. took the edge off of the flavorless. a bit of a ashy aftertaste that doesn't last but a couple of seconds. Not as strong as HHV Dark Horse though.

Finally I tried RY1 flavor, 1 drop per ml. Very satisfied now. Don't have much to compare to so I cannot give a good review but I can tell you that I am not in a rush to find a better all day vape any more!

My go-to since discovering it is TFA Black Honey Tobacco @ 5%. Recently, I made a Cavendish extract from a pipe tobacco blend from a local pipe/cigar shop. It tastes amazing, too. I originally mixed a batch with the extract @ 20%. This gunked my coil uber-fast. Had to dry burn 2-3x/day. Today I mixed a batch of TFA Black Honey Tobacco 5% with the Cavendish extract 5% and TFA Kentucky Bourbon 1.5% and, dammit, this stuff's making me regret every other DIY I've ever made lol!
