I uploaded this video to ScrewTube about an hour ago and it's still processing. I only did this as a matter of convieniance, since the standard embedd commands don't work here and most board programs are now in bed with YouTube. So I uploaded it to Pit_Tube for your enjoyment.

How much is REALLY being lost to the Electronic Cigarette Pit-Tube - Get drunk and video yourself

Sorry, can only provide the link to the video.

In the video, I discuss what is REALLY being lost to Big tobacco, Gobmint, and Pharma. Plus a commentary for everyone.

Watch it and head the advice. :)

DIGG it too. :)

Guess which state imposes the most tax on cigarettes.

State Tax Rates on Cigarettes

Anyhow, good video Jim.

I'll have to google later what the total % is that goes to the Government from a pack of cigarettes. I'd assume close to a billion and that your initial numbers were correct if you were speaking in terms of tax revenue and not gross income.

Yeah, but if you add the tax from counties, NYC stands alone:

New York (1) Tax 150 ¢ per pack
(1) Counties and cities may impose an additional tax on a pack of cigarettes in ... NYC $1.50; ...

Guess what dude? Your vid assumes that those 1m smokers quit a one pack per day habit. Most comments on here suggest that the majority of this community were 40+, per day, smokers!
You do the math. I figure that is a $5bn loss per annum between big tobacco and the treasury. That is a big wedge to lose!
That is what the e-cig industry is up against.
Then add on all those other potential quitters out there? Things that make you go hmmmm ...

Thats weird. The tax on NC analogs is higher than VA, but as someone who lives near the VA border, they pay more for them up there than in NC.
Not that it matters anymore for me!

I live in Maryland and used to cross the border, about twenty minutes, over the VA line. They were that much cheaper down there.

Not that it matters to me anymore either (4 weeks and couting) but cigarettes got up to about 7 bucks a pack here. A very big factor in my decision to try e-cigs.

I was a two pack a day kinda' guy. So I can only imagine the taxes that are being lost on me alone.
