I suggest you look at innokin iTaste MVP 2.0. It's a highly regarded box mod.

ETA: I can't give the Vamo a good recommendation. Although it's popular, it has problems with the 510 threading. When looking to buy any device I always tell people to browse the sub-forums to see what sort of problems current owners are posting.

I can attest to my own experience with a chrome vamo3 which I bought around December 2013 8 months ago, and so far I have changed the center pin insulator twice on it; the hardest part was getting the top pressfit off, but once I did that, I've found the design quite open to repairability; I'll probably figure out a way to mod the top to fit in an adjustable centerpin eventually.
The second replacement was only earlier this week; this time I put in one of the clear soft silicone type insulator pieces that have been coming with the newer protank coils; the earlier one I put in was the hard white one which eventually seems to crack and break apart.

The reason I'm trying to avoid the MVP is I like to carry spare batteries if I'm away for a length of time and it's a innokin svd that has just let me down. I've heard that vamo is reasonable quality stuff so that's why I'm looking at the 1 I posted. I don't need pass through charger, I don't do battery or ohm checking yet, so just simple vv/vw setting is my thing for now.

You might want to look at the e-lvt; it's alot like the mvp except you can change the battery.

Yes, I've seen the e-lvt and was quite impressed but it isn't a known brand to me. Here in the UK the biggest names to me appear to be vamo and innokin with provari being the elite stuff. I've seen the e-lvt on youtube and the guy seemed impressed with it. There is no real traders in my area that I can sit and talk to about mods etc so I can only deal with internet shopping and buy from pictures and recommendations like I get here so the vamo still looks like the one for me.

You've heard the name "Fasttech" right? aka slowtech.
Great site to find out information about vape gear.

Well you have to carry those spare batteries around in something, you can't just have them loose in your pocket with keys & loose change. So you might just as well carry them around in an additional PV.

If you want to keep things simple, think about getting a pair of VV V3 batteries.

If you just like the looks of a mech, then i would say go for it. I just prefer a box mod because with all of the high wattage ones out at $150 or less, why bother with mechs? I like to press a button to change my clouds and flavors rather than rebuild and rewick. Im not saying i dont enjoy my kayfun v2 on my copper AR at 1.2, but it is definitely a much nicer atty on my ipv2 IMO. The battery lasts alot longer, and when i really need a cig, i can just crank up the watts and melt juice.
