I agree with all of the above comments & recommendations. RTD Vapor & Orbtronic are highly recommended for batteries and chargers for e-cigarettes.

"Un-protected" safe chemistry batteries (IMR li-mn and most of the newer hybrid batteries) are currently recommended over protected ICR batteries as a safer alternative for both mechanical and regulated mods. -- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html

Using a Kick or RBA/RDA in a mechanical mod requires using a "high drain" type battery (IMR or hybrid).

Sub-ohm vaping requires special high drain batteries that have a continuous discharge rating over 10 amps. A list of these batteries are in the first link below. The two options available in an 18350 IMR battery (AW & Efest) only have a 6 amp CDR so they are not recommended for sub ohm. I suggest using only 18650 size batteries for sub ohm.

So say I want to run a single coil about 1.0ohm to 1.5ohm. What do I need to use?

AW IMR
18650 2000mah 10Amp CDR
18650 1600mah 24A
18490 (1100mah) 8.8A (16.5A?)
18350 (700mah) 6A

MNKE IMR
18650 1500mah 20A

Panasonic or Orbtronic hybrid
CGR18650CH (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
NCR18650PD (LiNiCoAl) 2900mAh 10A
Orbtronic 18650 SX22 (hybrid) 2000mAh 22A

Samsung hybrid (LiNiCoMnP)
INR18650-22P 2200mAh 10A
INR18650-20R 2000mah 22A

Sony
us18650v3 IMR 2250mAh 10A
us18650vct3 (hybrid) 1600mAh 30A

EH IMR
18650 2000 mAh 16A
18500 1100 mAh 8.8A
18350 800 mAh 6.4A

Efest IMR
18650 (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
18650 2000mAh 10A
18650 1600mAh 30A
18490 1100mah 8.8A
18350 800mah 6.4A

* All of the above are "high-drain" "safe-chemistry" IMR or hybrid batteries. When purchasing batteries, pay attention to name brand, chemistry type, and model numbers.

I use the AW imr 18650's and 18490's that you posted in both my mech mod and my Provari. I usually run my mech with a kick 2 at 15 watts for the added protection and consistent vape, but I have been know to un kick it and vape at 27 watts or so, just to check out my build and wicking. Usually catch to big of a nic buzz vaping at that high of watts, and prefer the low 15 watt vape better. Plus get to use the kick beauty ring with the Nemi clone that way. A lot depends on how low you go on your builds. If looking at .5 ohms or lower, would probably go with the 30 amp ratted batteries, would be pushing the limits of the 10 amp rating of the 2000 mha AW 18650. At builds 1-1.7 ohms, the 650 & 490 aw's would be a great choice.

But you should really do your own research on proper battery recommendations, amp limits, care maintenance and everything for yourself. Realize, when you choose to go mech, you are the safety check. If it goes critical it's on you. Do not trust what a complete stranger tells you. Gain the knowledge and confidence in you gear, so that you don't have to wonder if the next vape will be your last vape. Mech mods is like jumping into a full blow nitrous kicked super charged funny car. If you don't know what you are doing, you could get hurt.
