Hi All,

I recently moved from vape pens and got my first Regulated Mod (Aspire Archon 150W Dual Battery). I have been researching these forums for batteries and am a little concerned about safety at high wattage. Was hoping you could help me out.

Reading the forums the Samsung Q30 and LG HG2 batteries seem highly recommended and I am keen on them due to the higher capacity.

Generally I am only vaping at the 50-75W level and reading the forums both these batteries seem fine upto about 60W per battery which would mean I could safely use the this Mod upto 120W without worrying about the batteries.

However if I wanted to very occasionally try the mod at max wattage, is it dangerous with these batteries and a big no no? I don't want to risk batteries venting etc.

My calculations (assuming 6v cut off on mod and 90% efficiency) tell me at worst case scenario the ampage draw would be:-

150 / 6 / 0.9 = 27.8A

I know this is above the CDR rating of both batteries, but unable to find information on what levels these batteries can be pulsed at, and unsure of the risks of very occasional pulsing at these levels. Is this highly risky and dangerous? I like the increased capacity, but safety first.

Thanks for your advice

It's probably not a good idea as at the very least you will prematurely age the the batteries. What you could do is recharge at a much higher voltage say 3.6 volts or higher, this would reduce the strain on them. Mooch gave the Samsung 30Q an MVA (maximum vaping amps) of 25 amps for pulses.
