Battery charging question

Is it possible to overcharge a battery unit (innokin MVP2) ? Is there any danger to damaging the unit if you plug it in at the end of the night and let it charge overnight past the time required to reach a full charge?

My first thought was no but I thought I'd ask...

Provided your device is in good shape, there is no risk. It will stop charging when it is fully charged.

Agree with JohnnyBGoode. Now, I still don't leave batteries on charge when I'm sleeping or not here. If the charger fails and doesn't stop charging it can start a fire. Doesn't happen a lot, but if it does it can ruin your whole day.

The MVP 2 has built in over-charge protection and automatically stops the charging process once it's fully charged to avoid damage to the internal battery.

The built in safety systems will prevent overcharging, so there is little risk... however systems fail from time to time, so it is generally considered bad practice to leave any lithium-ion battery charging without supervision. (This includes cell phones, laptops, mp3 players... most modern battery powered electronics)
