Took battery out mod and went to the charger to swap and i noticed the blue battery was elevated slightly out the charger. When I noticed it was fully charged yesterday I unplugged it and left them in charger. They are the same pair but the blue one was reared by my local store. I don't recall what the top looked like before I charged it. Normal?

Nope. Not yet. The original wrapped one has that white ring and the rewrapped are black. I guess I just never noticed it. But I thought it was fully covered by the blue wrap before.

Maybe its the light reflection of the pic, but for the life of me, I don't see a black insulator ring on the blue-wrapped battery. I see grey or silver (bare metal?) where an insulator ring should be.

If there is no insulator ring present, do not use that battery. It's a sure way to hard short the battery. An insulator ring can be replaced (battery suppliers like IMR Batteries sell them). Some vape shops will carry them, too.

I only tom these two pics of it. I'm really not sure out looks like some sort of ring. Trying to touch it I tore the black ring. The other two I took after ripping it a little. Now I really need a battery check and the snow is ridiculous outside.

Ok, from those last two pics I can see the black insulator ring. However, it still looks like there's a tear in the space between the insulator ring and battery wrap (9:00 position) ... at least its a different color. Again, it may be an artifact from light reflection.

If there is any bare metal showing, its not safe. Simply removing the battery from the mod could short the battery if that bare spot makes contact with the mods positive battery contact.
