Battery Cleaning Question

Sorry, I have been digging and could not find the thread...

What is the best way to clean out the green build up inside the auto batt's thread? I got the outside and the airholes with a pin, and some of it from the inside but it is not drawing as well as it was when it was new.

What can I do to clean the connector inside without messing it up?

I think I saw someone that cleaned It with a little alcohol with a old tooth brush. I have not tried it myself yet. Hope this may help.

i use the edge of a piece of paper, little bit of alcohol. then take a Q-tip, twist the end to a fine point and stick it in the post hole to soak up any juice that may have gotten in.

Alcohol and small pipe-cleaners work best for me. I dip the pipe cleaner in alcohol rather than the other way around - kinda like spraying the Windex on the towel instead of on the window. Keeps it from running places you don't want it.

I found some between the teeth cleaners at the drug store..they look like tiny bottle brushes stuck together..the do break apart to use. dental picks I think they are called.
Anyway they are perfect for the threads when dipped in alcohol and the pick end cleans the air holes!

Someone suggested VCR head cleaner fluid dip. I was planning on trying that. In the meantime, I've been using a staple.

I think that might have been me. It's pretty nasty stuff, so clean, dry, and wipe with gusto if you do.

Looket in Wally World and Targettie and have been unable to find head cleaner so I jyst used the alcihol dip, staple bore and and pipe cleaner message.

That and blowing through the led end now have one of my auto batts drawing light and airy instead of like trying to suck a milkshake through a straw.

Yeah, with everything going contact-less digital, it's getting harder to find. There's some really good contact cleaner out there though. Expensive. I've only tried it once or twice - I use denatured alcohol, quilting pin, and pipe-cleaner.
