Anything else besides smok would be perfect. Smok has zero quality control. They sell a LOT of products, but no quality. You might get lucky and get a year out of it or just as easily you might get 4 months use or less. Do you do MTL or DL? How much did you smoke when you decided to switch to vaping? Have you been vaping long? What are your vaping needs vs your expectations? There are lots of variables to consider when choosing a mod. You will get many suggestions from the group here as to which mod will be a good match for you but you will also find the general consensus towards any smok products to be fairly negative and this opinion comes directly from experience with smok.

Could you suggest a better one battery mod that comes with a tank that can be used with an RBA coil?
I think you mean drop in coil? RBA coils are the ones you make yourself out of twists of wire. I know very little about drop in coils. SMOK attys are supposed to be decent. It’s the mods they can’t seem to make reliable

The kind of battery you want depends on your wattage needs for the most part. With that said, I don't think folks are steering you wrong in the mod department. Also, some mods seem to be more "efficient" at converting power depending on their chip. Also the amount of bells and whistles on the mod will also matter.

As far as batteries:

I am partial to Geekvape products and the Ages is fantastic. So are some things from teslacigs, Innoken, AsModius, you can do a lot, lot better than Smok at least for mods.

Greetings @xBeasty, welcome to ECF.

I agree with everyone who's said that Smok has a bit of a quality control issue. Well, a lot of a quality control issue, really.

You mentioned that you're looking for a kit with a mod and tank. I'm wondering if you're worried about compatibility, or if you have another reason for wanting a kit. If it's compatibility, there's not much to worry about as, outside of pod mods, virtually all tanks will work with pretty much any mod. You'll really open up your options if you decide to get the pieces separately.

There are a number of issues to consider when buying a battery. Three of the biggest ones are:
  • Can the battery provide the amount of power you're asking from it safely? This is more complicated than it should be because a lot of mods say they can be used at settings that no existing battery can safely reach. Equally, a lot of batteries make false claims about their ratings.
  • Who made the battery? For 18650s, you'll usually want one of the big four manufacturers - Samsung, LG, Sony/Murata, Sanyo/Panasonic. The complication here is that there are a lot of counterfeit batteries around, so you need to buy from a reliable vendor.
  • Who are you buying the battery from? Some vendors have reliable supply channels and even spot test their batteries for counterfeits. That doesn't guarantee that they'll never (accidentally) sell you a counterfeit, but it certainly reduces the risk.
The blogs Anna linked to in the post above will help you answer these questions. As it'll take some time to work your way through them all, I suggest you start with this post:
It'll help you pick a suitable battery and includes a list of recommended vendors to buy it from.

Oh, and to have a go at actually answering your question, yes, the LG HG2 would be a suitable battery for that mod with two conditions:
  • You don't spend too much time vaping all the way up at 50 - 60 w.
  • You buy the battery from a reliable vendor. Note that Ebay and Amazon are as unreliable as it gets. There are lists of good vendors in the post I linked above and also at the bottom of this page.
Good luck!

I am planning on buying the Smok Priv V8 60W single battery mod.
My question is: what kind of 18650 battery should I use for this mod?
Would an LG 18650 HG2 3000mah 20A battery be good for this mod?
I'll agree with the others before me and recommend that you not buy a SMOK mod unless you're a gambling man. If SMOK spent as much on their quality control and customer support as they do on marketing then maybe they'd put out a better product.

The SMOK tanks or atomizers have a better reputation and make a lot of vapor, but most of them require a lot of power (as in a dual battery mod) and therefore also consume a LOT of e-liquid in the process. Before choosing and purchasing a tank, investigate the wattage requirements of the coils they use. The recommended wattage range of coils is engraved on the coils, or listed in the product description. Then decide if the particular mod you chose has the wattage available to fire the tank's coils.

As Anna and Hawise said, you should choose batteries by their amp rating and the wattage you plan to vape at.

Are you using a single, dual, or triple battery mod? In the interests of keeping things simple:

-If you use a good quality 15 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6, then you are good up to 45 watts per battery; 90 watts using two; 135 watts for three batteries.

-If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the LG HG2 or Samsung 25R then you are good for 60 watts per battery. If using a 2-battery regulated mod, you're good for 120 watts as you have two batteries. If you are using a 3-battery mod, you're good for 180.

-If you use a single 25 amp CDR battery like the Sony VTC5A, then you are good for 75 watts per battery, 150 watts for two batteries, and 225 watts with three.

-If you use a single 30 amp CDR battery like the LG HB6 you are good up to 90 watts; with a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries you could safely do 180 watts.

Look at the anology of a car when talking about battery specifications. The amp rating is the "horsepower" of the battery. The mAh or capacity of the battery is the gas tank's capacity and determines how long the battery should last per charge.

So if we take the SMOK T Priv as an example, its a single battery 60 watt mod. In this case you'd want one of the 20 amp batteries that can give up to 60 watts of power. You don't need a higher than 20 amp battery for a single battery 60 watt mod, but by the same token you may not need a 20 amp battery if you only vape up to 40 watts. In this case you might be better served with a 15 amp battery (good for up to 45 watts) with more mAh for longer run time. So choose the battery that best suits the way you vape.

The LG HG2 would be a good all around choice for this mod because you have both the higher mAh and the necessary amps in one battery.
