ok just so people may know why I am asking the question. My batteries died in my Tekk standard 5v version

does anyone know which and if I can put any other type 18650 in it to get it working, or can I only use the one's from the factory? I was thinking maybe the 3000 mah 18650's or maybe the aw 2900

I don't know if it's ok to switch batteries? will the circuit board still work with other batteries? I'm not that electrically inclinded but would like to fix this PV

i'm a noob to this, but believe you should have no problem - just be carefull because they have solder tabs, and get similar chemistry (not li-po or lifepo4) (not sure if high-drains would pose compatibility problem, but if the chip they've used in the charging circuit doesn't have a problem with termination, and am guessing it's proper cc/cv since they wouldn't want it exploding, then it should stop when it's done)

Li ions should not be soldered directly to the battery itself. They use a spot welder to add tabs/wires to them. Soldering directly to them is not advised as they will get too hot and more then likely damage them. You want to look into getting some 18650 with tabs for replacements. Li-ion 18650 Cylindrical Rechargeable Cell: 3.7V 2600mAh (9.62Wh) --OEM from Japan/Korea you can add tabs to the battery in the link for 25 cents extra.

Edit: Pretty sure you need non protected batteries for replacements. I believe the protection is built into the main circuit board. But i am not 100% certain so you might want to verify that before buying replacements
