battery help

I have been vaping for almost a year, started out on a smoke ego twist with a kanger mini pro. I like sweeter juices and would like better production. So I did some shopping and research. I have purchased a panzer mod and a plum veil Atty. Now the kit comes with a battery, here's my problem. The battery that comes in the kit is a Efest IMR 18650 LiMn 2500mAh Battery - Flat Top - 35 Amp. I have read some bad reviews, I also have read good reviews. I do not want to vape on a potential grenade. Any and all opinions will be greatly appeciated

Hello and welcome to the forum chase. Glad to have you here!:)

Your purple Efest battery is 20A CDR (not 35A as printed on the wrapper).

I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs that address battery safety, Ohm's Law, CDR (continuous discharge rating/Amps) and how they all work together are detailed below:

BATTERIES

Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Its an OK batt not outstanding. Not horrible.

for the average build I would stay lower then 20 amps as this is believed to be the real continuous rating.

Bad needs to update his blogs a bit.
Almost no one sells protected batts for vaping anymore and many newer batts are NCR, ICR and hybrid MN class now, IMR is just one of many these days.

Rtd gets my vote. Several year customer now.

Spending the extra money on a quality battery is highly recommended, cheap bats give a weaker hit and drain too quickly and will not have as long a life as a reputable brand such as sony or panasonic. Also if a bat does blow on you it could rip your hand / face to pieces.

One made the news recently.
:facepalm:
