So i have a sigelei legend. Been using it every day for about two months. I had it sitting on the table in front of me. I picked it up to take a drag and noticed the entire this was extremely hot. Almost to hot to touch. I immediately unscrew the battery and let it fall out. the battery was smoking and smoke shot out of the mod. The battery was dripping juice all over and was way hot to touch. So i ran and grabbed an empty clay flower pot and put it in the coverd it with a frying pan. The battry has cooled off now. What do i do with the battery? I dont want to put it in the garage in case it pops plus im a little scetched out to even be around it. Im well aware of what these things can do when they go wrong. Btw its a sony vtc 18650. The mod is completely fried. I took it apart and the board is toast. So what should I do with this battery? Its still on the floor inside the flower pot.

You should take the battery to wherever you recycle stuff. Also you should try to figure out how the battery managed to go bad - was it shorted? Were you sub-ohming at a level that was more than the battery could handle?

Sadly, drawing too much power from a battery can cause a delayed-reaction failure (this happens fairly frequently with RC batteries, where someone does a real heavy-duty run and then just leaves the battery sitting - it can burst into flames hours later).

What happens is that drawing heavy currents from a battery can cause a small "bridge" to form between the battery plates. At first, this bridge is high-resistance, and draws a small amount of current. But the bridge is self-reinforcing; causing it to grow (and it's resistance to drop) until eventually you have a major short, and the battery goes into runaway.
