Have had my vv 650mah battery for maybe 2 weeks now. Charged it and used it for maybe 15 puffs. Then it turned off by itself. I hit the button 5 times and it flashes green and wont remain on. I think its shot and shorted out I can smell some kinda something in the connector area.

Anyone have an idea what it could be? bad thing is its my only battery :-( Gonna contact myfreedom smokes where I received it at to see if I can get a return.

From myfreedomsmokes it is likely a Joye eGo batt. They have a pretty good warranty of 30 days or 60 days if you bought full retail. Contact them soon.

The five click trick can be tricky. Do it rapidly and it should flash white (if vv, blue if non-vv). If it's off, it won't blink until another 5 clicks, then it should flash white once on.

I see you joined us at ECF in August WElCOME! I had SO much to learn. i used eGo batts during my quit days, I hope this helps.
1. For me; i ALWAYS needed to have a backup. Ready, charged and handy. After success (no smoking analogues) i took the $ saved from tobacco and bought more units..so I had 1 ready and loaded everywhere.
2. my supplier (myFreedomSmokes is well reputed) was really important at this stage! I live rural, no B&M shop...I had a phone contact and would call and talk to the owner/manager. They always took care of me!, i'd have replacements on the way ASAP++ goodies.
3. I did stick to 'name brand' just to start, the joyetech eGo's had enough warranty for that. remember, ALL PROductS can have 'faults" from the cheapest to the best and everything in between. even the rolls royces of e-cigs can get finicky every once in a while.
4. Many noobs on a budget will save$ on the "back up" gear...just something to get them through while the preferred device(s) are charging/being serviced/cleaned/refilled etc.
be kind to yourself.

when you're running smooth, take an evening and "noodle around" the ECf site. The InfoZone has GREAT resources, there's reviews, advice, blogs, forums for about every device, manufacturer, supplier reviews, and so much more that will let you know where to go in a hurry when you need it.
figure out your own habits and what fits you, frequency, nic. level, batteries, vape, TH, etc.

Did your battery contact get juice on it?

all the best.

Before I charge it I check to make sure its clean. I stick a q-tip in it to make sure no juice is in there before use. It had a tad bit in it. But I would normally check it everyday and most days it has none.

But the battery will turn on. When I press the button at first it did nothing. Now its flashing twice pauses flashes twice and pauses again and flashes twice. Where before it did nothing. I can click it 3 times it will change the vv but just wont fire. Im gonna order a spinner or ego twist very soon I should of ordered it sooner but oh well.
