Battery only activating when taking a HARD drag, sometimes not at all? Not a carto problem

I'm using an Apollo Extreme battery. It's kind of an odd battery, they sent it out to me when I tried ordering one of their standard batteries, which is your average cig sized battery.

This thing worked incredibly the first week I used it, better vape production than the cig-like batteries I had in the past.

But as of yesterday, it's been acting funny. It only activated when I take a REALLY hard drag on it, like there is a delay in sucking in and when it starts to activate. I'll take a drag and suck in for about a second before it lights up.

It's not a problem with the cartomizer, I tried various ones, and it does the same thing even without a carto, so it's a problem with the battery itself.

Maybe it's a connection problem, I'm not sure.

Is there any way to "clean" the battery, to ensure maybe some juice didn't leak in somewhere, or something got into the top of the battery?

Has anyone ever had this happen to their cig style batteries?

The Apollo extreme is a weird battery, I haven't seen one like it. The battery size is listed as 906, idk if that's common or not.

Try sticking the corner of a paper towel or napkin in the connector and wipe it down. That is one of the biggest problems with automatic batteries, if juice gets in, then the activator tends to stick. If wiping down the connector doesn't help, then there probably isn't anything else you can do ...

Devauto is right, this is a common and unavoidable issue with "automatic" batteries, and it is the primary reason why ALL advanced PV's have a manual button instead of an "automatic" sensor.

You could try blowing through the other end of the battery to try and dislodge the juice but chances are the water has evaporated from it and what is left has solidified inside the air channel, blocking the airflow. You could try dismantling it and cleaning it, but these devices are generally not designed to be servicable and it will likely be destroyed in the process.

Your options from here are 1.) buy another standard apollo battery to replace it (knowing that it too will have an very finite lifespan), or 2.) move onto an Ego type battery, which has a manual button. These too are limited, but it will not suffer from the current issue you are experiencing, or 3.) move into PV's. These devices perform much better than cigarette style ecigs, but they are also are much larger and generally require a greater initial investment than an ego.

The first type I tried was a mall brand cig-sized. The battery did that to me as well. Luckily, it was only 2 days in and the store replaced it. Sorry i can't be any better help. Welcome to the forums!

Most of us use manual batteries and don't have to worry about leakage into the battery compartment. Plus they just work so much better than auto batteries.
