Battery Problem

Hi all,

I have an ego ce5 1100mha and every single time i hook it up to recharge the battery i have to clean the threads on the actual battery or the light wont turn "red" because fluid seems to have leaked onto the battery.

Now i know this isnt very good for the battery so my first question is how do i stop it leaking... i have checked all the threads and they all seem to be on tight enough so how is it still leaking?

and question number 2 has anyone had any problems with these charging devices before or have i just got a faulty one?

The liquid does interfere with the connection. Which would make it harder to charge.
Important safety note, that liquid in the connection could start a fire. It's always best to clean out the connector before charging anyway.

Most of the time the leaking is caused by condensate going down the air tube. Especially if it's only ending up in the battery connector. To help with this slow down on your inhales, and continue to inhale after letting go of the button. Should clear that chamber and resolve most of the issue.

One possible issue with the CE5 style - or any top coil device, is the head can work a little loose. Some are that way from the factory, sometimes not snug enough after cleaning, sometimes from taking the drip tip off to refill. If it's loose, it can leak juice down the air tube.

Overfilling can also cause leaking.

Just clean it off before charging. A cotton swab or a twist of tissue works fine.

It's also possible that the CE5 is defective. Sometimes the bottom seal, around the part that makes the positive battery connection (center pin) isn't quite right, or you may have overtightened it to the battery, pushing it up a bit, which can cause a leak.

It isn't very likely that there is a problem with the battery itself. The liquid is most likely from your delivery device. If I read you correctly, you're using a Ce5 clearomizer. That's a clearo with an extra ring on the bottom to enable unscrewing and replacing the clearo's coil/wick assembly.

Whenever you remove the clearo from the battery, you're also applying a twisting pressure on the screw connection at the bottom, possibly loosening it enough to leak juice the next time you use it. I suggest always removing the clearo from the battery by holding the clearo at the very bottom rather than grasping it higher up. Then, make sure the bottom ring is nice and tight before using it again.

Even with those precautions, it is not unusual for such clearos to leak fluid onto the battery connection when in use, and it is not unusual to have to clean the battery connection well before charging. I keep tissue handy for that purpose, which I twist to a point so that it will reach easily to all the places in the well. Works better than q-tips because q-tips won't clear the fluid at the edges.

He means to slow down on each pull from your e-cig. lol vape as much as you want but draw the vape slower.

Thanks for all your replys, if i have tightened it too much does this mean a new battery or a new charger? the centre pin you are talking about has a dot in the middle of the chrger and the battery and when i put this on the outskirt of the battery it seems to light up red but as soon as i screw it in it goes back to green which is very annoying. it normally takes me about 10 minutes to just get the thing charging. I dont mind the Ego ce5 as it is my first e-cig, but can any else recommend something that i wont have these problems with?

If you recently bought it try to exchange the battery with whom you bought it from.

I use a eGo C Twist myself and so far its worked well.

I'm looking to pickup a Vision Spinner. I've ready that many like it over the Twist.

If you've over tightened it you can use a small screw driver or a paperclip to gently pull the center pins up a little.
Not too much, just a little. That'll solve the connection issue.

As far as other devices, there are literally thousands of choices. It will all come down to exactly how much you want to spend, and what you're hoping to achieve. My best advice is research. Read the forums, read the reviews, and watch youtube a lot. If you've got a local store you can go into and talk to someone who sells these things, do it. Ask as many questions as you can before they stop talking to you.

Use the mentioned straightened out paper clip to gently rock the battery center pin up, working the clip around the side. You don't need to raise it much at all. Not so much pulling, but rocking it gently side to side.

Probably neither the battery or charger is bad. Many of us have had a similar issue regarding the pushed contact, which is usually caused by over-tightening.

The Spinner, btw, is preferred by many because it's easier to read and adjust than the Twist. Also comes in a slightly higher ma rating. From my surfing, also generally a couple $$ cheaper for the same size.
