Due to my primary 3.7v charger being with my brother-in-law (new vaping convert, so I couldn't take all my toys home with me), i purchased a lenmar 3.7v charger. Put in one pair of IMR-16340 CR-123a and when it indicated charged, I swapped the other pair. It eventually showed a fault.

None of the batts actually charged, and one reads 0.03v; odd as I would not expect to see anything below 2.5v.

Purchased a different charger locally (anyone want a lenmar charger: free), and 3 of them charged fine. The problem child showed a full charge almost immediately, and didn't register on the multimeter, which is what I would expect.

On a whim, I put it back in the charger (which a protective bag as I'm leery of it), and it's been charging for a few hours without a fault.

Am I just playing with fire *literally* here, or is there a plausible explanation?

probably not something as simple as putting lions in a nimh :)

speaking of batteries/chargers, got a usb charger (same ratings as my kit egoT usb charger) from tomsvapor.com, it fried both of my original egoT batteries, but didn't seem to damage the two new egoT's i got from them.

haven't used the new charger since i realized what happened, so not sure, but they haven't responded to multiple emails from me so far, not sure if they're just telling me to go F off or if they're still on vacation, will find out tomorrow hopefully.

Would that actually matter?
I remember having a camera that took regular AA 1.5 V batteries, and I'm pretty sure I used multiple types of batteries in the generic charger I bought. Can't remember if any of them were nimh, though. Probably not. But I do remember that lithium was so superior to alkaline that it almost scared me. Especially since they are so much harder to find in that size/formfactor.

That is really weird. Can you expand a bit on "fried"?
Got very hot and started to smoke and ooze nasties?
Or just won't work/accept a charge/hold a charge anymore?

If the latter, it just might be an unlucky coincidence. Batteries do not last for ever, and when they go they sometimes go very quickly (glares at Roomba in the corner and nervously mutter incantations over my netbook).

BTW, I'm new here and haven't really found my way around - this place is so huge! - is there an electronics corner somewhere? I know just enough to know that I don't know a lot, and I'd be ecstatic if I found a place to ask my stupid, but not totally uninformed, questions.
