Battery question

Hmm ... just want to check something out so that I can still rectify things before my REO arrives if necessary. Do the batteries that you use in the Grand have to have the nipple top to work? I have some 18650's but they are flat top and just got to wondering if this was going to be a problem? Thanks all!!

If it's a Grand you can use flat tops, you just have to push the button down a little further for the firing pin to make contact... or use one of those little magnetic spacers on top of the battery.

You can buy little tiny magnets just the size of npples pretty cheap from some suppliers. They'll allow you to use your flat-top batteries.

Thanks for that info! I just had a funny feeling about these batteries. As I know nothing about electrical/electronic things, I would have thought that a magnet would interfere somehow. So ... will either get on the lookout for some magnets or consider buying a couple of proper nipple topped batteries and not worry about it.

I dont recommend using flat top batteries do they work yes but you have to stress your positive contact to make them work . The mod is built around the aw imr 1600 mah battery .

You did not say if your batteries are AW IMR. I am thinking they are not. The AW IMR run our REO's really great. They are just what you need if you are going to use ANY L.R. atty's or cartos.

I have seen a lot of people use other batteries and they just can't get the vape that they want. I have only bought the AW IMR and would not buy anything else.

Even my daughter, who was using protected batteries, learned the hard way to get AW IMR. She could not believe the difference.

Panasonic does make a IMR battery that also works well with the REO's. You just have to make sure it is the button top.

I'd agree with the AW's too. I bought 2 a couple of years ago and they're still going strong (knock on wood!). I had high hopes for an Ultrafire 3000mah I got about a year ago, but it died last week. And then there's this blue CLI 2220mah that's less than a year old and has gone bad as well and leaning like the tower of pisa.

Sooooooo, I need a couple of good batteries at bargain prices. That excludes AW's. I found the Panasonic IMR 2250 for $9 ea. I hope they last as well as the AW's, but I kinda doubt they will.

Blast! I can't find a supplier close to here who sells those batteries so that I would have them on hand when my REO arrives. Would AW IMR 2000 mah be okay? God - I'm such a ..... when it comes to batteries!

OR ... could I use the magnet thing on the batteries I have and put in an order with Reosmods for some batts and a spring? Would that harm anything? I am thinking that the batteries would arrive about a week or so later than the REO (depending on a number of factors of course).

2000mah batteries work fine. Rob doesn't sell batteries, he refers people to RTD.

You won't hurt anything using the batteries you have until your button tops come in. If you have a Radio Shack or something like that you can pick up a couple. They're little tiny things about the size of a Timothy seed, (I like saying that 'cause you flatlanders have no idea what size a Timothy seed is), and they're usually around 50 cents each.

I have a couple extra that I'd give ya but I won't 'cause you might be fibbing about being ex-wife #1.

Once you remove the battery from the charger how long does it retain it's full charge?

I'm learning about how long my batteries are lasting in my Reo Grand and can now tell when it drops off without even testing it.

Does the VVGRAND have any advantage over the regular grand when concerning battteries?

The Grand is unregulated so technically after every puff the next one will be slightly weaker.

The VV Grand is regulated, each puff is basically the same strength from the first to almost the last. Just prior to the electronics in the mod shutting it down you'll notice a few weaker puffs then it just won't fire anymore. By shutting down it saves the batteries from being drained too much and damaging them.

Fully charged batteries will hold their charge for a considerable amount of time, certainly much, much longer than a vaper would go before using it in a mod. Weeks, months... not days.

How long should i expect the same hit from a VVGrand then?

There's really no definitive answer to that since there are so many variables involved;

Set voltage

Ohms of carto or atomizer

Chain vaping. moderate or periodically

Condition of batteries

Warm temperatures allow batteries to keep a charge longer than cold temperatures

I would imagine there are other variables involved but on average I get around 3 to 4 ml from a set of 18350's before I change batteries but I tend to change them out before the mod shuts down.

I vape at the highest voltage the mod will allow depending on the ohm of my coil.

i can now answer that battery ? i carry 2 aw imr 18650s in a kit to work, thought i have not needed them. just took them out and metered them. after being in the kit for at least 3 months and maybe 6months these batts still read 4.12 volts. fresh off the pila charger they meter at 4.19 so they have lost 1/10 of a volt after a minimum of 3 months sitting unused

Dano, do you have a battery checker? I have a Sterno doohicky I'll send you, if you don't. It's simple to use, just touch each end with the copper wires. the inside wire goes to the Postive end.
