Battery Refresher?

Hey all. I recently got a great charger for my AA and AAA rechargable batteries: La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger. It tests them refreshes them discharges and charges with overcharge protection. It's the best battery charger I've owned. Does anyone know of a similar type of charger that does these things for 18650 type batteries? I've done a lot of google searching and I haven't been able to find anything.

If I remember correctly, Li-Ion batteries don't suffer from memory effect conditions like NiCad batteries do, so that type of charger wouldn't be necessary for 18650/etc batteries.

Hmm I guess I need to do some reading. I really dont know about batteries. Is there a link to Li-Ions for dummys? I got my first 18650 battery and mod in roughly May of this year. The batteries, red aw, we're lasting me all day but now a bit more than half a day. I anything my vape frequency has gone down. I need to learn about battery maintenance I think. I'm gonna google but any links that could be thrown my way would be appreciated.

Try putting yout batteries in the freezer overnight, then charge them. Someone said it helps to align the crystals in the LiPo chemistry.

I tried it on a set of 18650s that I over-discharged and they worked well following the trick. It won't hurt to try. Make it scientific and record your actual vape-time before/after the freezer trick and let everyone know!

Part one
18650 nippled aw red batteries.
It was charged and put into my provari at 9am. I went to my sisters with my son and spent the day in the pool so it was light usage. Voltage set to 4.1 with 1.8 ohm atty. At about midnight it needed to be changed. ((When the battery was new 3 months ago I'd get a full day of heavy vaping and often into the next day.))

I will freeze the battery for 6 hours then charge.

Freezing won't do much except lower the discharge rate until it is back to room temp. Nothing inside the battery is going to actually freeze. You just get a really cold battery.

Degraded battery life is a result of a chemical reaction. Low temps, even -40*, is not going to undo the reaction.

Yeah, it didn't help. I put the charged "frozen" battery in my provari today at about 8am and now at 12:30 it is flashing that I will need to change the battery soon.

Freezing batteries is an old NiCad trick. They would actually form crystals and thermal shock from freezing and rapid reheating would break the bond, rendering a little more useful life. Though overall, it was still a bandaid on a sucking chest wound.

Have you looked into the Pila chargers? They seem to do some sort of similar things, check them out. Amazon sells them , so does Super-t manufacturers, and some others.
