Battery shorting problem?

My wife got a new ego twist with the battery status light ring. She used it a couple days with no issue but last night the connection end started heating up when not in use. She even turned it off but it stayed warm/hot for hours. Battery drained down according to the indicator ring but not completely dead. Would that be a short in the battery connection? This morning it still had some power but wasnt hot so it must have eventually stopped shorting. Been hearing things about batteries exploding and dont want to put her in danger. Anyone have any ideas on what might have caused the heat up or short if that is what it is?

Thanks

Admittedly, I am no expert, but it certainly sounds like it is shorting out internally to me. If you got it from a B&M, I would take it back in and ask them to exchange it. It would help if it were doing this while you were there so that they can see the problem. If you ordered it online, contact the vendor and see if they are willing to help and assist. They may already be aware of this issue if others are experiencing it as well, and have something in place to address it.

check to make sure that eliquid is not pooled in the 510 connection on the battery as most clearo's tend to leak a little.

I wipe mine out with a small piece of paper towel every time I remove the clearo to prevent eliquid from seeping into the electrical components

This is an EXCELLENT suggestion. I wipe mind down every time I fill my tank. This helps keep the 510 connector from filling with juice, and reduces the risk that it will seep past the gaskets and into the battery itself. Once that happens it could very well cause the battery to short out (and may be what has already happened here). If you have some qtips, or pipe cleaners, they will also work to keep the connector clean. Also make sure to wipe off the 510 threads on the tank too, so you don't recontaminate the 510 connector on the battery.
