Hey all. I recently collapsed the battery spring in my wetbox. Would it be a bad idea to take a spring from another device and put it in the wetbox? Thanks!

Or you could buy a 4 aa box from Rat Shack and steel the springs from it. They had them for around one dollar last time I looked. That was cheaper than buying their springs.
For a temporary solution you may be able to stretch the spring back out. Just grab it with a needle nose pliers and stretch it. It will be weaker now an may return to is smushed state fairly quick but it will get you by in a pinch.
The question is,,, Why did the spring go limp?

Pretty sure I was using the wrong atty on it. Is it okay to just set the spring in or will i need to solder it?
They are made both ways. Some springs just wrap around the inside of their tube and others are soldered to a wire.
I would say if you have a wire then solder it. I have a bunch that I screw to the end cap. And I have one that I used as you say by just setting the spring in. However, you must have one heck of a low resistance atty or some very small spring.

You can get some fairly stout springs from the hobby store designed for RC cars. Again with a little bit of elbow grease and a needle nose pliers you can get them into a cone shape or I just compress the last ring a little so it's sure to hit the center of the batt.
