I don't know about anyone else but I've got V4L batteries strewn all over my place, most of them just piled up on the coffee table. I was at my parent's house this weekend and mentioned how it would be nice if I had some place to put my batteries but still have them conveniently nearby. My basic idea was a piece of wood/aluminum with holes drilled in it so that I could slide my batteries into them -- almost like a fountain pen.

My step-dad threw some ideas around with a friend and they came up with something for me to try out.

Its made of redboard fiberglass and is heavier than it looks. For the next iteration, I think I'll have the holes spaced much closer together... and will probably have them drilled at the same angle. Doing it that way means it'll work both on a flat surface (desk, table, etc) as well as on the wall. It would actually look really nice if it was done in wood and then stained with a shiny finish on top.

I want to nail down some specifics before I build the next one, so... suggestions? Thoughts?

That's nice! I agree with moving the holes closer together - I think it will look better. Another thought is to make the holes at the same angle, but move them to the opposite sides so that the batteries sort of form X's ; that might be visually pleasing. It would probably help to make the width (short end) a little wider to do that. Great job.

Very true on the width issue. I could probably even make all the holes line up down the center and make it angle only very slightly so that the batteries never stick out farther than the holder itself.

What are you planning on doing with them?

Well I've converted my brother, sister, and several friends from analogs and will probably make a few for them once I figure out what works. Other than that, no plans beyond holding batteries (and cartos since mine just lay around when I'm too lazy to spin them). I wish I could figure out a way to fit a charger or two in there somehow.

This is really cool Tennovan! Just a couple thoughts...You could make some shallow grooves in it, or more small holes to hold carts. I don't know how tacky this would look, but you could also use velcro and stick one piece on one of the wood sides and one piece on a charger. This would keep the chargers attached and also make it easy to grab from the wall.

As a precaution..I would suggest never keeping your Chargers mounted on wood or anywhere close to your batteries. Chargers fail and in many cases when they do the heat up and melt. Just type in Melted E-cig Charger into your browser and see for yourself.

 Yoiks! Thanks for the heads-up, Snow!
