After reading replies to my welcome thread I decided I needed to get a new 2 battery starter kit. Since this was an important purchase I did my due diligence and read through as many reviews and recommendations I could find on this site. Then I site surfed most of the ECF suppliers looking at tech specs and costs. After hours of research I had it narrowed down to 4 or 5 mods. I finally settled on the smok T-Priv and made my purchase.

But I didn't buy it for the rave reviews or outstanding technical specifications. I bought it because I thought it looked cool and came in my favorite color Blue. After all the research, I bought because it was blue. Does any one else make purchases based on such specious characteristics, or is it just me? If you have, were you happy with the product once you got it?

I got lucky this time. It is Cool and Blue and it seems to work really well.

Oh I've been bitten by the shinitis bug too many times to count! [emoji16]
After the first 10 or so mods I started looking at more of the technical features than the looks.
USER mode, Preheat modes, 0.05 resistance, 510 pin, screen orientation, 2, 3, or 4 battery, width, etc.
I've been happy with at least 80% of what I have bought.

I can't say that I've bought something just because I like the look. I look into the features and longevity of a product. I can say I have not bought a product due to not liking the appearance no matter how well it works or the reviews. All the tanks I own tanks are all Stainless Steel and my mods are all black, silver/gray, or white so everything matches and can be switched around. I'm a little OCD about the looks of my set ups. Sticking with those colors works for me.

Only a few things are really important to me.. Durability, a smaller size and if my tanks fit nicely on it..

Noisy Cricket 2-25 and most of my tanks look great paired together, easily fits in the pocket of some straight cut jeans and is durable as hell..

I did some due diligence on mods and tanks and I'd say at first, I really was more focused on design features. With all that being said, I won't sacrifice a FEATURE I want for simply for looks, but if I've narrowed it down to a few, I'll buy the one I like the look of or think I will like the feel of, and I think that's part of the fun! It's how I ended up with a Tesla 120 Steampunk mod, and I love how it looks and the form factor. I also like that it's heavy, but for my out and about mods, heavy is good. I notice I'm holding it, drop it less, etc. It also turns out to be a really great mod, so I wasn't disappointed re: features, either.

I think it's fun to have so many options that are quality options, and to have tanks I like the look of better than my first mod. That said, I bought an inexpensive backup, an Aspire Zelos mod. Looks are nothing to write home about but I trust aspire reliability and I bought it because it WAS small, inexpensive, and will fit in my purse, and came with one of my favorite tanks, a Nautilus 2.

So, it kind of depends as well, what I'm looking for a mod to do. The Zelos has decent features and you can get it at a fair price, but it only has an internal battery, and I wouldn't have bought it unless I wanted it for a backup, for that very reason. But, I refuse to carry around two Steampunks. :)

Congrats on BLUE! Some people love to color coordinate their tanks and mods and that can be fun to do....

Last thing i got was my big baby beast, the store clerk only had black and stainless models. Since i'm more than sick of black (both my mod and other tank are black + phones are mostly black) i was tired and went with stainless no hesitations lolz. I am tempted to get the t-priv too but because that red looks SOOOOOOO freaking nice XD i can't help myself (thank god i have self control :p)

Well I have to admit that I totally had to have this green Provari.

So, which green did you get?

I had to have 1 of the 2.5 in Dark Emerald Green and in the Harlequin Metallic Green. Also just had to have it in the Lagoon Blue...and eventually, because of their ridiculously low going out of business prices...in several other colors, too.

...... I've bought so many mods purely based on colour or aesthetics - to date i've regretted 2 in 3 of them.
There comes a point in every vapers journey when you've found the mod and tank that works for you but then you just have to try something else - just because a prettier colour will surely enhance the vape experience. It must do - it's purple for crying out loud.
I'm currently vaping on a Joyetech Primo mini (which is basically an evic vtc mini) because it has a clock. I swear to baby jeebus the lemon in my lemon tart liquid is so much better because i can also tell the time whilst vaping it.......

I buy mods based strictly on how well built they are. I do construction for a living so my mods have to take heat, cold (during the winter), dust, fiberglass and lately pvc cement. My daily mod is either a Lost Vape Therion 166 or a Lost Vape Skar. It just so happens these mods also look pretty dang good. I sometimes work 10-12 hour days an hour from my house so I only use Yihi and Evolv mods. I've had issues with other boards.

I do the majority of my research on a mod when I get home from the B&M.

Never, it's all about function for me. I know, I'm pretty boring, but it works for me ;)

Then again, if function is there but I dislike the look that's a no-go for me.

Thanks for making me look at the Lost Vape Mods. Were you aware the Lost Vape Triade Triple 18650 DNA 250W TC Mod comes with a red quilled ostrich leather 3 battery cover? Almost all my holsters are exotic leather, mostly shark and crocodile. I don't have any ostrich in my collection. The only hope for me is that it's not available in Blue.
I don't need another mod.
I don't need another mod.
I must remember.
I don't need another mod.
