I'm having a bit of trouble with the becoming verified portion of the program here. I understand the why and hows of it and it does indeed make logical sense to limit and somewhat secure a thing. however this is my dilemma the verified how to says this:
What is required to become "Verified"?

  • Member must have a minimum or 20 post.
  • Must not have multiple serious offenses on the forum.
  • Member must select and fulfill one of the options offered below.

my point of confusion comes from it saying must have a minimum or 20 post.
my first instinct says that is a typo and it was meant to say minimum OF 20. however it may mean what it says in that case im confused.
my second problem comes from the required 20 posts...or just the number of posts in general required to do or participate in the various extras on this site.there is a post number required for almost everything here. I'm not saying its unwarranted; I imagine it very needed in fact; however my problem is that i havent needed to make any post.

Everything i have ever needed to ask has already been answered ; all comments i would make or advice i would give has been given. I found this place via google; and combine the search function here with google and the various youtube vids by Scott (igetcha69) steeljane grimm and the various others there and here i have found simply everything and every question i have ever needed answered already asked and answered. So to make a new post for what has already been asked has seemed pointless. this place has been a vast archive of knowledge and resources and as yet i havent needed to make any post.
but id like to also participate in the classified / co op sections but i cant due to post count, but i cant get a post count because there has been no reason to make a new post...a vicious cycle...

anyhow i do greatly enjoy this place regardless of that aspect. i started vaping on april 24th this year with a volt PCC and the tiny cig looking batteries, which i felt left a lot to be desired . i moved to the voltx2 battery and the stardust/ clearomizer which was a major improvement but not yet exactly what i needed. By may 10th i had acquired a provari mini a maptank a DCT tank and various carts, that finally got me off cigs permanently. With out this place i would have never learned half of what i know now and would be right back smoking im sure.So i am grateful for all the knowledge stored here and excellent advice that has been given to me with out me asking a single question.

i just dont ever think i will get to 20 post, or if i do it will be a very long time.Any way around that 20 deal? seems so foolish to spam the forums to get a post count to access a thing that was designed and implemented to prevent or reduce spam.

Well, when you put it that way, it is kind of funny.

But really, they are trying to limit spam from the outside, not necessarily spam-type posts from valid members.
On the other hand, they do not allow spam-type posts just for the purpose of raising your post count.

So basically, you have to pretend like you're not spamming.
:)

The best thing to do is to hang out awhile in the New Members section and offer some of the wisdom you have accumulated.
And if you haven't accumulated enough wisdom, then offer some opinions on various topics.

And if you have no opinions, then just join in the welcome parades in the newcomer threads!
:)

Well you're 1/20th of the post count (provided that they are non-spammed posts) to meeting some of the requirements. The post count and verification processes were set up to help eliminate fraudulent buyers & sellers.

Not wanting to get to know your fellow vapors or get involved in the community and then asking how to circumvent the system on your first post is a little suspicious. jmtc!

I could do 20 posts standing on my head.

Aside from DC2's sage advice on the New Members forum, check out the General E-Smoking forum General E-Smoking Discussion, or the Provari forum ProVari.

Or cruise ECF until you find a subforum that strikes your fancy. Chime in. You'll hit 20 posts by this afternoon.

it isnt a matter of wanting to get to know anyone. I feel i know a few quite well, or as well as you can over the net. in essence no one really knows anyone here; so that argument is moot.
and honestly i wasnt seeking a way to circumvent, perhaps i should have phrased it better. more the the like of is there a method other then the post count to get verified or do the things post counts allow. since there are like 5 different way to be verified i was attempting to ascertain whether there was different avenues then post count as well.

and yes Demented571 that is how i read it as well.

but mayhaps starting this one post here will spark a conversation enough to kill those 20 post in short order.

DirtiJoe I too was like you doing all kinds of research as I have been vaping and sneaking around here for 5months ;). But feel there is still more to learn as the ecig business is growning everyday.Plus maybe I might be able to help someone that doesn't have the time to do the research like I do as I am disabled, also maybe meet some new friends along the way. Happy Vaping!! :vapor:

I would view it as private property. If you choose to be on private property .. You must follow their rules no matter if its a law or not. I too only came to the forum to trade ... But found a way to get 20 posts in no time. You could have gotten 20 posts during the time it took to type your story.

Im a Libertarian and I would back every restriction they would like to add. Its their property ... Love it. Atleast we still have private property.

Personally, I dont see what the big deal is. The minimum 20 post rule is to protect everyone. I find it hard to believe that you cant find anything to ask or answer. I have been vaping for about 2 months and I always have questions. Although, I am by far a veteran, I have learned a tremendous amount on here, and by experience, especially when it comes to mini cigs and the volt. I am always trying to help brand new people who are looking for advice. You say that the questions have been answered, but sometimes you should repeat the same answer in your own words if you agree. Many people come on here looking for answers. I for one, want to see several posts recommending the same device, or giving the same advice, because then I know its the right answer.

Now, if you have no intention or feel that you are never going to reach 20 posts, then WHY do you need to be verified. The advantage to being verified is so that people know you are real, especially if you intend on selling or trading something. If you aren't posting anything, no one will ever know you're here anyway.
