Greetings, after so much reading and looking at devices I've got a couple newbie questions so I thought I'd sign up and start posting. I used to smoke cloves before they got banned to "protect the children". For a while I was ordering them from overseas, but my throat started hurting, I was getting concerned about my health, and the aroma annoys people (even smokers)

Somebody handed me a Blu E-cig one night, and I didn't mind it. So I bought one, and then a Vape shop opened up near my house. I purchased a EVOD started kit with two units. Shortly after I got a ProTank and some T3s's (really like these, they seem smooth w/good airflow). I've also recently acquired a ProTank 3. Both the protanks seem to gurgle a bit, but otherwise I do like them.

I've seen kayfun mentioned as a favorite around here. What exactly is a rba? Is that "Re" Buildable" "Atomizer"? I've been looking into something better than the Kanger tanks I have, and this looks nice:

New Kayfun Lite Clone RBA Rebuildable Atomizer Tank | eBay

It says it's a clone, does that mean it's not made by Kayfun? I see a lot of "clones", and I'm not sure what they mean. Also, almost nobody seems to sell these together with a battery, and I'm seeing laser etched $85 batteries:

Luxor Vapes Hcigar Kayfun 3 1 Mod Bundle Kit High Quality | eBay

Do you need some giant "mod" to power these, or will the same EVOD 510 battery work? Also, with a RBA tank, do I have to start making my own wicks/coils, or can I simply purchase replacements?

I'm looking to step up my game, but would like to avoid actually building my own units. I have no problem assembling, cleaning, etc., just don't want to order an Ohm meter, and get nitty gritty with it. Any recommendations are appreciated.

i would get a decent Mech mod like the panzer, 2 18650 aw imr 2000 mha batteries or orbtronic batteries, a intelligent charger for them XTAR SP2 or XTAR SP1 these charge the most sizes of batteries. (it charges one battery at a time however it has a usb port and can charge cellphones etc and can carry with you) i got both. also they can charge 26650 batteries the huge ones at the same time. i would stay away from genisis atomizers too fickle for me. although i am still setting them up. i have a squape. kayfuns i would go with a russian 91% and or the kayfun lite plus new model. get some 2mm or 3mm silica wick and some 28ga and 30ga kanthal resistance wire from temco. or an atomic dripper. there are a ton of videos out there. oh and get some cotton to as well. the juice is up to you. i am still burning thru a bunch of juice that i will not buy again but working my mods to get the best out of them. my goal is to vape eith with zero nic or 6ml nic.

Hey Shigglyboo - welcome to the ECF

I have 2 of the Tobeco kayfun lite + clones and am very happy with them (to get the originals you normally need to get on a wait list) - they have excellent flavor and vapor production

no, there are no easy replacement coils for them to purchase so yes, you do need to get "nitty gritty" and build them yourself - so you will need to order kanthal wire and learn to build coils (RBA's fall into the "hobbyist" category of vaping) using either cotton (organic cotton balls from walgreens, cvs etc - 1 $4-$5 bag will last a very long time) or silica wick (norm used in all production atomizers) - will also need something to check the resistance - either a multi-meter or a mod that checks it (see examples listed below)

It will actually look kind of ridiculous on an ego battery as it is 22mm across and will make it quite top heavy also

It works best on APVs or "mods" ie: vamo, provari, sigelei zmax 3 or 5, MVP2 etc or mechanical mods (not recommended for beginners at all - no built in battery protection)

here is a good video to watch regarding the kayfun lite + by Phil Busardo

for an easy upgrade Kangertech has a new "Aerotank" which is basically a protank 3 with air flow control (AFC greatly improves the quality of your vaping experience) for about $19.99 or so from several vendors (I currently have no links bookmarked - sorry)

hope this helps

Dakota Jim has it right. The ebay link you pictured seems to be the tobeco clone of the KFL/R91% which I've heard nothing but great things about. With the money you would save by getting the clone you could also look in to a solid DNA20 or DNA30 mod. Variable wattage is always nice on a treat like the Kayfun or any of it's clone variants. Just depends on how much you're wanting to spend but you will definitely want a VV or VW device to use the KFL on

So is the Nemesis considered a Mech mod, or just a mod? If I buy a mod and a Kayfun atomizer, would I really need the multimeter and tool kit, or would I essentially just have to make my own replacement coils/wicks, which doesn't sound too daunting. I have a background in soldering, mainly cables, patch bays and whatnot. From what I'm reading mech mods sound risky, and I'm wondering what the benefit really is over a regular mod. I like the idea of a unit that blinks when it needs to be charged, and doesn't blow up. Is it about battery replacement? I'm interested in these Kayfun things after reading numerous users here say it will improve taste and overall experience. With my Kanger's it sometimes burns my throat, and there is a gurgle with the pro's. The T3s's have been my favorite so far. I have new flavors on the way from Good Life Vapor, and after seeing the stuff on Five Pawns I'm interested in these multi-layered complex flavors, and want to be sure my device isn't interfering negatively.

Shigglyboo, Welcome to a smoke free world. Best health decision I made, been vaping for almost 3 years and have seen alot of changes.

Dakota Jim summed this up pretty well, but I will add my .02 and expand a little. If you are looking more out of your vape, you need to decide what you want.(Flavor, Warmer Vape, Cloud Chasing, or be like the other kids :) )

I really do not want to add up all the atomizers, Carto's and tanks that I have purchased over the last 3 years. I would say start with your device. If you are looking to stay a little cheaper, I would look for a variable volt/variable watt device that will do 15 watts. That 15 watts is plenty for most people. Top of my head, the Lava Tube 2.5, svd, Vamo a few others will do that. I have the svd and it is a nice device that you can find for $50-60. If you have a better budget, start looking into the DNA20 or DNA30 devices. I would wait for a DNA30 personally, just because it will take the subohm coils down to .5ohms that all the mech guys have, and it has some protection built in. It will give you the best of both worlds in one device. These are also like the Holy Grail and not available often, plus your looking at dropping minimum of around $200 for one, most likely closer to $300. You could wait until they come down in price.

As far as the RBA's go. I just recently got into them myself. It seems overwhelming, but once you watch a couple youtube videos, you will wonder why you were worried. You can start off with a simple igo L rba, run you $20 and see if you like it. I have the igo l with a 2.0 ohm coil on my svd hitting at about 15watts. It will put out a cloud that makes some of the mech guys jealous!! The best thing is the flavor, you juice will come alive.

I also have the Kayfun clone. I will be looking for another one soon. It is so good, I will buy the original as people tell me it is even better. The Kayfun clone gives great vapor and the best flavor of anything that I have tried to date. It is easy to build a coil on, but not as easy to fill. It can get messy if your not carefull. I recommend them to everyone.

I like a warmer vape, and I like to taste my juices, so an RDA is what I have been looking for. I can turn up the power and get that vape, or turn it down if I am not in the mood.

Hope this helped you in some way, I am no way an expert. All I know is vaping got me off analogs and my health is better. Just don't give up, take the time to find what works for you. It may cost you some extra $$ learning, but those extra years with your family and friends is worth it:2cool::vapor:
