I've always liked my SB but the black chrome was getting beat up with this being my out and about rig.

So to solve that problem I got out some different grit sandpaper and a steel wool pad.

This was my end result. I'm very happy with it and it looks and feels new to me.

It came out pretty good, I can't really get a proper pic of it with my cell phone though. The button needs to be replaced so I'm just going to have it powder coated before I send of to altsmoke.

Haha, thanks! I just hit it with 300grit and rolled it in a circle for a long time. Check out powder coating though if you don't like the brushed look, my local shop only charged me $10! I was in awe, I was expecting it to be like $30-40 but they were doing a run of white soon so I was able to sneak it in for cheaps.

Did you remove the switch for coating?

Interesting to see the black chrome after a few months of love. I just got one to replace my black powder coated one and I was curious as to how the finish would age. Chad told me it would turn a smokey color, but it looks like the plating is thin enough that it'll wear thru too.

Have you ever had one of the silver button SB's? I always wear thru the chrome on those too from just my thumb rubbing on it. Just wondering if the black buttons hold up any better. My understanding (which I could be completely wrong about) is the black buttons they use are a black anodized aluminium.

My black button is doing just fine. The finish was scratched and beat up on the tube so I got after it with a few different grits of sandpaper and finished it with a scotchbrite pad.
