Who says quitting will make you gain weight!?!

This is my before and after video of weight loss. I was 145lbs went down to 120 then back up to 130. I think the 10 lbs gained back was muscle mass. Because I litterally use to just sit around all day long. I think I had little to NO muscles before this. I did it all on my own. :D Started at dress size 5-8 (5 really tight 8 comfy but loose) ended at 5 loose??? Still have a little ways to go as far as toning goes and I would like to loose 5-10 more lbs. But I feel great!

On the "after" part of the video there is no audio. My cam was not syncing the audio and video for some strange reason.... so .... yeah.

Congratulations!! You look great :). Very, very noticeable in your face and arms (Cameron Diaz has competition!!). There's a get fit thread in the Women's Room if you want to pop in and post your video there, too.

 Awwwww Thank you! I have always thought Cam D is AMAZING looking! So thems big words too me. I have always been self conscious and felt ugly. Everyone at school made fun of me, I was in the "nerd herd". So I never truly got out of my self conscious "ugly" way of thinking. But I have gotten way better at the way I view myself. Its a struggle every day.

I think I will join you all! :) Thanks for the invite! :)

Congrats on the weight loss. I lost a little weight after I started vaping, but quickly stopped.
Need. More. Exercise.

Its A LOT of hard work. I will not kid you. I over did it there for a bit... and my mid set started to scare the poo outta me. I had to reign myself in. I had no clue restricting cals to 700-900 was bad. I was also exercising about 2 hours a day. But I stopped that as soon as I found out how bad it was for me. So no short cuts! :)

You look BEAUTIFUL - nerd herd? No way - get those idiots right out of your mind...way to go, girl! Keep up the good work and pass some of your willpower over my way... :)

:blush: I was I am not kidding... maybe I should post a nerdy pic? well I will only embarrass myself like that on request. lol

Passing the will to do it on! :) I still give myself 1 knotty day a week where I eat whatever I want. Well, there is a limit here too. But I certainly indulge. :)

Hubba. I skimmed the video. I'm trying to help my wife get motivated to lose weight. I just started working out and strength training. I'm a short 5'4 135 lbs dude. I only have a fat belly to lose but it's been with me 5 years now.My exercise consists of situps, pullups, jumping rope, dips, and strength training various areas with a LifelineUSA Gym instead of using free weights. I work out between lunch and dinner. I'm also eating way more than I used to but healthier foods.

What exercises do you do and what times of day do you do them? Do you find time of day makes a difference? Got any more tips about what you found works and doesn't work?

I don't find it make a difference what time I exercise. I mostly do it at night because I am slow to wake and reallly lazy in the morning.

I work in core workouts 5-20 min a day to every other day like this Winsor Pilates 20 Minute Workout - YouTube And the do 30min-2 hours of cartio. The cartio I do is silly. I hold cans of beans in each hand and walk-jog-run in place, dance, jumping jacks, squats, thrusts... anything I can think of to mix it up while watching tv. Thats it.

I changed my eating habbits. I don't drink any calories , unless its a breakfast smoothy that I make at home. No soda of any kind even diet. Lean meat fruit veggies and whole grains ONLY. No starches. And I snack on string cheese or almonds. No junk or fast food of any kind... but I do give myself 1 bad day a week where I can eat anything I want. But you must still keep caloric intake to 500 less then you are burning. But DO NOT go under 1000 cals ina day that is really dangerous. And leads to bad mental habits and can lead to an eating disorder.

Thanks for the tips. Unlike you, I have to have carbs/starches because i'm trying to build muscle and the carbs is what gives your energy for the strength training workout. Carbs are not the enemy unless you cannot burn off the sugars they turn into and before those sugars get turned into fat. At least that's my understanding

I don't count calories, but I have to eat more than I normally would to both burn fat and build muscle. My problem is I was a processed foods junkie. If it came in a box like a tv dinner or had lots of processing and chemicals in it, I ate it. I have only been at this a week and it's so hard not to want to grab a cheeseburger but make a tomato and avocado sandwich instead.

Pilates look interesting but they look hard for someone who cant stretch to well. I am trying to learn a stretching technique called Active Isolation Stretching. It's supposed to be way more effective than normal stretching and after a couple of weeks of doing this, I may be able to tackle some Pilates Active Isolated Stretching 1/5 - YouTube This may help you too.

The vid I gave a link to for the Pilates have modified versions(in the vid) for people who are not that stretchy.

Having PCOS makes me per-diebetic. So thats why no starchy carbs for me. They are bad for my fertility. Its just how my body processes them. I do eat whole grains. They taste better anyway (well in bread form).

You bring up a good point in that everybody is different. We all have different needs so no cookie cutter diet will work for all of us. Consider this article on finding your metabolic rate. Determining Your Metabolic Type. I found this after reading that potatoes were great energy givers for many peoples workout yet after I ate some Idaho potatoes I felt sleepy instead of it giving me the energy I needed. These are simple carbohydrates that turn to sugar quickly. Sweet potatoes that have more complex carbos would have been better for me. It's all a trial and error learning process.

Trying to have kids huh.. best of luck with that !

great work!!!! (hey nerdy is good)

blessings

I have come to embrace my neardy side. :) It wasn't good back then. But what I would give to be a neard growing up now... it seems like my kind of nerd is now "in". lol Anyway no body ever expects me to be the type to play D&D old school or other such activities. But I do. :) Yes I am 33 and I like to play magic the gathering... lol. I also really enjoy algebra! Its FUN to me. lol Who says these things? I do...
