Dear forum users,

My name is Mark and I am fairly new to the world of vaping. Up until now I have been using a fairly standard e-smoker, the eGo Bookwill which only costs 25 euro's. I like how it is easy to just buy a new atomizer when the old one loses power or the air flow is degrading. After trying cartridges too, I am sure liquid is the way for me to go. What I miss though, is the lack of appearance and power. The cloud and hit isn't big enough for me, is this possible?

After doing some research I stumbled upon mods. From the mechanical mods I like the appearance of the black Stingray and the Chi You mod. I like the straight appearance that lines up with top part (clearomizer/atomizer I'm not sure), but I don't know which type of clearomizer they put on it to make it a straight tube. (sorry it's hard to explain for me and can't post links)

Out of the VV/VW mods I like the Tesla a lot, the alien-y look and the robust material.

To sum things up, things I seek in a e-smoker are: Good air flow (I hate it when it kind of blocks and I have to suck it real hard), nice appearance (the japanese appearance of the Chi You for example, or the extra-terrestial look of the Tesla. From what I 've seen I prefer black color over gold or silver. Also I want the clouds to be big and the hit to be better than the Bookwill I currently own.

What would be my best bet out of the three? Other suggestions are welcome too.

Excuse me for this long story but these are all things I am craving to know! My final questions are: Which other parts do I buy to add to the mod to make big clouds and a big hit? And will these smokers make a big difference for me in performance compared to the eGo Bookwill? And do I stick with normal clearomizers for now if I buy one of these mods, or could I just start out immediately with a rba?

Finally I found this complete set of the Tesla for 65 euro's, (The CE4 standard clearomizer that comes with it I will have to replace, It's too basic looking for me) let me know if this would be a good choice and price.

Kit contents :
APV TeslaVV/VW Body 1 pc
2200mAh 18650 Battery 2pcs
CE4 Clearomizer 2pcs
Battery Charger 1pcs
Gift box, User manual

Thank you very much for reading all of this and I hope I can get some answers on this great forum :)

Greetings,

Mark

Hi Mark, and welcome to ECF and vaping - both good choices :)

Since you're starting out, I'd suggest you stick with regulated mods. They're more "forgiving" and allow you to fine tune the vape to your tastes without having to learn how to build coils. Just adjust the power, either volts or watts, and the flavor, heat and vapor change.

I have, among others (I've been at this a while, and enjoy the hobby/collecting side ;) ) two Tesla VV/VW mods, and have found them to be pretty reliable, and they've turned into my preferred adjustable mods. Or I wouldn't have gotten the second! Many of the "kits" don't come with the best batteries or chargers, and I have no idea what comes with the one you mention, so you may want to upgrade those in the future, but otherwise that looks to be fairly reasonable.

And I agree on the CE4. I don't care for top coils, and those are made to be disposable anyway.

You may want to consider something in the Kanger line for your topper, or the Nautilus with BVC. I use several Kanger PT, PT2 and Davide glassomizers, all with Kanger air flow control bases. Don't have a Nautilus, but a lot of folk really like them.

Moving up from that for good air flow and flavor would be something like a Kayfun, but then you're going to need to learn how to build coils. Not hard, but maybe not something you want to do until you're a bit more comfortable and secure in vape-land.

Thank you for the elaborate response and the warm welcome. I read the Vamo is similar to the Tesla in smoke production. I really like the look on the Tesla though, so I will go with that one. Now my question remains: Which battery etc goes best with the Tesla? (and other parts that I need with the mod) Also, does this thing fit in my jeans? Because it looks quite big!

Thank you in advance,

Mark

It's about 135 mm long, plus whatever topper you use, and about 27 mm diameter.

I use flat top batteries, IMR or "hybrid". While I have a couple at 2000 mAh, I usually go for a higher rating for longer run time. Sony, Samsung, EFest are all decent. AW is highly regarded. Don't try to save pennies on batteries, or their charger.

And yes, the Tesla and the Vamo will vape about the same, with the same topper, resistance, flavor and power. That's going to be true of any similar battery. So it comes to ergonomics and visual / tactile appeal. I DO like that the Tesla can lock the settings, so you don't accidentally change them. Can't do that on a Vamo - at least not up to rev 5. (You can on the Innokin SVD, not sure about their new soon-to-be released V2 SVD. And the cute little ELeaf Istick has that capability, but it's not an interchangeable battery device. Other than a mech with a kick, I'm not aware of any other mods that have that feature.)
