Whats the proceedure for switching between flavors? Do some of you put in a new wick every time, or do you just burn off the old juice? I'm going to be using a Sophia. I bought 5 of the prebuilt coils just so I can start at it, but will be building my own. Don't worry I've done all the research and will continue to do so until I'm fully comfortable and ready to use it. I'm wondering if I can just slip a new piece of cotton in every time seems easy, but is it unnecessary?

I change wicks everytime i change flavors. About every day or two. Just pull the old cotton out, do a dry burn, and insert new wicks, juice up and vape.

This is the same way i do, but i also have few tanks for different ADV's, so i don't need to change cotton, just fill up again and keep on vaping.
With drippers i change wick every time liquid changes, always!

Change my wicks every two days .. you will definitely see the cotton has slightly compressed on itself and also noticeable drop in vapor production. These are signs to having a burnt wick taste if not changed soon. Also the coils get dry burned every new wick and voila good for another 2-3 days. Some sweet flavors do leave a darker gunk on coils and dry burning may only get out 90% of it.. really hard unless using a brush and scrub. So change coils every 3-4 weeks. Any signs of harsh vapor are also indications of gunked up coils or inferior wick.

I got my first package with most of my building supplies on saturday and then finally got the second one with the Kayfun clone and Magma clone today(yay!) so I thought I'd update the thread with my first impressions.

My first first impression is that I don't know why I was worried about building coils, it's even easier than it looked in the videos I watched. I think I spent more time cleaning everything than I did building the coils and wicking. My second first impression is that not only do I get more flavor out of both but I'm also getting less, and by that I mean that it's missing the slightly funky flavor I got with the nautilus mini and eroll. I'm not sure if that's due to the different wicking material or the NM and eroll having more rubber and plastic but it's a noticeable difference.

Both are working great on my mvp, I built a 1.93 ohm coil for the KFL and a 1.7 ohm single coil for the Magma. I used 28 awg kanthal wrapped around a 5/64" drill bit, 8 wraps for the magma and about 11 for the KFL. I was in a rush to get down to the local B&M to try some juices out so I didn't think to take any pictures until I had already filled the KFL but here's the coil on the magma:

It's not the best picture and it's not the cleanest coil I've seen(the first one I built in the KFL was actually better) but the guy at the local B&M was impressed with it and his jaw about hit the floor when I told him it was my second coil ever so I guess it's not too bad. Both coils lit up nicely from the inside out once I compressed them which the main thing I was concerned with other than resistance.

Thanks again everyone for the advice, I think I'm well on the way to finding my vaping nirvana. I do plan to try some different builds and I want to upgrade the mvp to something more powerful but I think this is a good start.
Welcome to the family!!! Now, do yourself one more favor. Get some rayon, Japanese cotton, and organic cotton. Try them all on the same coil with the same juice.

I ended up exclusively using Rayon as I could always taste "wet t-shirt" on the cotton. Others have complained about chemical taste or slight harshness in rayon. Those are all for you to decide.

Kayfun for me shines at about 11 watts. As for the Magma, I like it nice and airy around 25 watts.

I like that idea. I'm enjoying the japanese cotton and it was nice to work with but perhaps I would like the regular organic cotton just as much or prefer the rayon. Both kits came with some rayon that I assume should be fine to use and organic cotton should be easy to find locally.

I've been running the magma at the max 11 watts and I can tell the open draw would benefit from more watts, it still has good flavor though. I've been running the KFL at 9.5-11 watts, the peaches and cream liquid I have in there right now is extra creamy at 9.5w and the peach flavor comes out more at higher watts.

I'm really enjoying both. The kayfun looks ridiculous on the mvp though and also makes it very top heavy which is making me think twice about getting a vapor shark(what I was starting to lean towards).

Edit: Just realized that it's silica not rayon that they came with, I guess I'll have to wait until I put another order together to try it. There's so much to learn, lol.

I'm a bit worried about that as well. However, I've looked at every regulated mod I can find and I keep coming back to the VaporShark. I think I'm about to bite the bullet.
