Help, I'm a newbie, looking for an e-cig system for my mother, who is elderly. She is a pretty heavy chain smoker, average nicotine content, and needs a VERY simple system. I've been reading forum posts for days on end, but am still feeling stuck. Here's what I'm looking for:

-- 2 piece e-cig or e-cig kit (perhaps comparable to a Joye 801)

-- portable, uses rechargeable batteries
-- if passthrough is available, that's a big plus

-- uses common cartomizer size, so she can switch brands & flavors
-- long lasting cartridge

-- pleasing tobacco TASTE is of major importance (reg, not menthol)
-- will probably add some flavors later like coffee, vanilla, almond

-- vapor amt, throat hit and cost are factors, but are less important

Mainly -- she needs something where she does not have to refill cartridges (as she could spill on herself), and where she can manage the battery situation easily. Also, I am NOT handy enough to do any mods.

I am seeing some good things about the GreenTech cartomizers, incl good taste, but am not sure exactly which e-cig these would work with. Does anybody know for sure?

Have also considered getting a Joye 801, and adding a cartomizer adapter. Does this seem like a good solution?

All advice will be greatly appreciated! Please include the best source to purchase both the e-cig system and esp. the cartomizers.

THANKS!

Joanna

I to am a new ecig user. I ordered my first from Blu. I went off cigarettes completely the day they arrive (two weeks ago). I re-ordered, they are back ordered...so I ordered the joy801 on Tuesday and they were shipped out yesterday. I'm praying I will get them this Sat. (probably not). I still have a few cartridges left...but I can't get any vapor out of them. Do I need a new atomizer this quickly? Do I still get nicotine without the vapor? Any info. you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

No nicotine without vapor, since the juice needs to evaporate, and then be inhaled.

From my short experience and research, alot of these requirements are subjective and depend on the "user". Things like "long lasting cartridge", "vapor amount", "throat hit", and "pleasing tobacco taste", may qualify with one model and user, but not qualify with the same model but a different user.

The route I'm taking is to do as much research as I can take (but honestly, there is some negative feedback attached to every option), and then choose 2 or 3 to try. Many of the vendors offer a 30 day Money Back Guarantee so if one of them doesn't work for me, I can (hopefully) send it back.

It seems like the 510 gets alot of great feedback, and I'm liking my Red Dragon although the customer service is not as responsive as I'd like.......but these are based on my personal perceptions and preferences.

I know that's probably not very helpful, but many people have asked these types of questions before you, and it doesn't look like anybody can really give a hard n fast recommendation, because different things work for different people and we all have our own perceptions.

LOL

Without a doubt, the VaporKing fits all of your Moms needs.
Super easy to use, great flavors, throat hit and vapor production. Also, the customer service is fantastic and the company has one of the best warranties going.
You can ask questions and get suggestions in the supplier subforum. Vapor4Life - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

Good Luck and Congrats on trying to get your Mom off the analogs :)

The best choice for your Mom would be the Vapor King ..IMO I just got mine last week and I smoked 2 plus packs a day for 33 years I am now off analogs and love the VK ...Steve a vapor4life is just great ....It will take a bit of getting used to but it should work great for her....Also get at least 1 manual battery and 1 auto so she can decide which 1 she likes The autos are a little harder to draw off of so the manual might be better ...Steve is top shelf as far as customer service goes

Good Luck

And here's another happy VaporKing vaper/cheerleader! :p

I love my VK, and the customer service with V4L is great! Very easy to use and consistant taste and throat hit. And it can use the greencig cartomizers with it as well. And yeah, my preference is the manual batteries also. Good luck with whatever you choose and happy vaping! ;)

Although the GreenCig G300 looks pretty pricey, the Vapor4Life site looks pretty reasonable. That helps a lot.

Thanks to everybody who responded!

Looks like you made your decision (and based on your stated criteria, it was a sound one). But, just in case you're still tracking this thread:
  1. What is a Joye801? Did you mean the very popular Joye510 or the penstyle DSE801?
  2. Check out Part 4 of my Wonderful World of Vaping guide, especially the last several paragraphs on the KR808D-1 (and GreenCig).
FYI: I see that Vapor4Life has recently come out with an Extra Long Manual Battery (380 mAh) compatable with any of the cartomizers (KR808D-1 or GreenCig) and with the 901 atty. It obviously lasts a lot longer (i.e., puffs per battery charge) than any non-Hybrid battery and they claim it packs more punch. At only $25, it appears to be a serious rival to the 3.7V Hybrids, certainly the VP1.

I'm thinking of ordering one (and some cartomizers to go with it, of course). And it's been a long time (in vaping months - analogous to dog years), since I've tried anything new in hardware. [It's not been lack of curiosity, but lack of $).

Good to know, Tom!

it can use the greencig cartomizers with it ;)

Oh, that sounds terrific! People are saying they have the best taste, but the whole greencig system is so expensive.

I did mean the dse801, also made by Joye, from what I've read.

Okay, I will go read it right now!

Sounds good, Don! If you figure out how long the new battery lasts, please let me know!

Yes, I can see how all this could get expensive, and could wind up costing more than just smoking analogs, in the short term.

Thanks again for all the replies! Everyone here is terrific!

Once you find the electronic cigarette you like, and the juice you like to use, this costs way, way less than real cigarettes. But you'll spend some money up front to get started, and searching around for the right juice and flavors for you.

That's good to know. I can see that battery costs can be high, but I guess using a passthrough most of the time could get around that.

You can now get the Green Cig 300 for $59.95 here, Vapor4Life: GreenCig Starter Kit (GC300). So, if it is the Rolls Royce, it now comes ata Chevy price.

Good to know there's a cheaper price on this! Thanks!
