Lets figure out the sweet spot for these devices! RULES FOR THE THREAD are as follows:

-Must be a basic micro coil. Ok, twisted kanthal will be accepted too, but im trying to stay away from all the wild stuff.

-Must use COTTON as wick. Because its the best, duh.

-Dont reply if youve never tried more than one coil... lets find the BEST one

Im having problems finding a good coil for my recently bought Russian clone so I decided to start this... Basically Im using 26 gauge wire...about 11 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit... I also have tried 10 wraps around a 3/32... both come out to about 1.25ohms (too low?)

All of the coils I seem to build on this thing want to bubble/rumble instead of give me that smooth sizzling vape that puts out juicy clouds.... I know you know what I mean! What coil do I use? Dont say "bro, it depends on what kind of vape you want"...We all want the same thing here! Good vapor prod. and good flavor. Dont need to complicate it...

Oh, im using a mech mod..with a VTC4 fyi.

Best info = wire gauge/wraps/coil diameter/ohms

^^^ I think dual 5/64 coils would be too fat so I think he meant single.

I just tried the double barrel with 30guage-11wraps-1/16 drill bit...Its definitely working better than my previous setup and it was pretty easy to build! Its 1 ohm.

Now im wondering if I should go for more ohms (better favor).. Can I just add a few more wraps to raise the ohms a bit?

I just rewicked last night after about a month on the same cotton lol but can't remember the exact number of wraps to be specific. I do know this, twisted 32ga - 6 or 7 wraps on 5/64 @ 1.8 ohms. Cotton just touching deck not blocking channel. Vapes great using DIY 50/50 24mg. I use this or same with navy nest wicking, however I just got my GF setup with ego twist and mini protank II 2.2 ohm and the mini has a lot tastier flavor than my KFL+ I've been using for 4 months. Thinking my coil needs to be closer to air-hole. Will be checking back

I thought I'd share the build that has been working extremely well for me in my Kayfuns (clones)

I am using Tarks wick this time but I have built this with Bamboozle and cotton several times and it works well.

1 and 2. Vertical Nano Dragon Coil : 8 wraps of 28G : 1.3mm : 0.8 Ohms

3. Pass a length of Tarks wick underneath the top leg, between the coil and post

4 and 5. Tie it in a knot

6. Wrap both the ends round again so the bare side of top leg is covered

7. Trim ends

8. And tuck them in.............

I topped this off with Mount Baker Bloo Moo 24mg 100% VG and it nearly took my head off, seriously the hardest hit I have ever had! I cannot take more than 3 or 4 1 second puffs on this before I am sweating, coughing & dizzy!

Next I tried a Diamond Coil

12 Wraps of 28g (4x3 with gaps) 1.2Ohms. I used Tarks Wick again which was a PITA to get through but I managed it! It does work with cotton as well. I highly recommend this coil.......it's a better vape than the Dragon but more difficult................Thanks RipTripper!

The Double Barrel Coil as per RipTrippers video was by far the best though.......

2 x 10 wraps 30G in juice bottle blunt needles (20G I think? definitely smaller than 1mm)

I used 30G instead of 28G to try to keep the ohms up - didn't work 0.5ohms! - No good for my DNA

This coil & the Diamond Coil are the best performing coils I have made in the KF, excellent vapour and flavour, I think this one just comes out on top!

Trying out my Clear Tank Kit from Fasttech so I had to give this a go before wicking -

The photos are pretty bad as I was in a hurry - didn't want to melt my tank!

I just do a chimney build. 11 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal around what looks like an 18 gauge pin thingy (or use a needle, whatever works) and put it vertically. Came to 1.1 ohms on my last build and I never get a dry hit, and always get sweet, thick clouds of vapor every hit. It blows any other kayfun build out of the water. I've done .3 builds in it and get better performance out of the chimney build than anything else. I truly think that the chimney method is the way the kayfun was meant to be build.

Initially I liked 8-10 wrap 28ga micros, but I think the chimney has better airflow and flavor. I just did one 28ga 9 wrap 1/16 1.4 ohms and it's nice, just a little harder to wrap wick vs threading it through. It's worth it though.

Should have took pics. Actually I gotta do another one so I'll get some pics later.

After trying it out, I would save this for those that have Kick2 or better VW mods, but, if you do, this is an excellent build....

30ga twisted wire, 11 wraps around 1/16th inch drill bit for 1.7 ohms, chimney coil.

At 15 watts it takes almost 2 seconds to really get burning, but once it does it makes HUGE amounts of flavor and vapor. This makes me want to upgrade to a DNA 30 device so I could fire it at 20-25 watts. I'll bet right around 23 watts this would rival a dripper with a subohm build.

My favorite has been the chimney build, as well. 28ga, 6 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit. Produces a 1.6 ohm coil for me. Great flavor, better open draw than the traditional micro coil.

I am intrigued with the diamond coil build. I may try that in the next coil. I built a 2.2 ohm diamond coil that I run on my Trident clone, but so far, I don't feel it performs as well as the traditional 0.6-0.8 ohm dual sub ohm build on my RDA's.
