If you are new to RBAs i'd go for 30g to start, because it is easier to wrap than 32g, which can be very fiddly for different coil builds and a bit too springy. You will also not have to do as many wraps to hit your target resistance, so it's a good, safe bet.
A lot of people use different gauges of wire but it depends on a great deal, such as how much room you have in your tank or atty to accommodate it, to the type of coils you are happy making. My advice would be to get to a point where you can make consistent coils for your all day vape that you like and experiment from there.
I started with 32g kanthal and my early builds ended up flying across the room in frustration as often as not. And get and use a good multimeter
