I personally like 24 gauge Kanthal. It produces the best flavor for me and I run single coils between .4-.5 doing 6-7 wraps on a 5/64th screwdriver. I have not tried 22 but I don't see myself getting anything bigger than possibly 22 gauge. Anything higher gauge just simply lacks the flavor I look for in my RDAs unless its a twisted wire of different gauges. But as with just about everything in vaping, it is all subjective and what I like, you may hate so... YMMV.

P.S. I'm glad to hear your buddy let you have a meter. Just be careful with what you do and enjoy your vaping experience!

Thank you for them that answered my gauge question I will no longer be posting I'll find answers somewheres else.

I don't think that anyone was trying to be rude. There is a safety issue with rebuilds. That's why you see disclaimers from vendors when shopping for rda/rba's.

I've been rebuilding for a few months now, just with single coil kayfuns....in the 1.2-1.5 range. It became mostly routine...I was hitting my ohm target right on the mark.
One day recently, everything looked perfect...nice tight micro coil...raised up off the deck. Slapped it on the meter and there was a short. Without that meter, even at the resistance I build at, and an authentic Sony vtc4 in the mech, that could have been a personal disaster.

I believe folks were trying to warn that any malfunction in the sub ohm range can be much, much worse.

Be careful my friend and happy vaping!!!!

progress. That's good. Now before you buy anything else, let's get that meter for your own safety. Whadya say? It's the single most important purchase of your mech/rda hobby.

Were concerned about our compadres... and the future of the hobby that's saved many of our lives. If we're coming off as to straight forward it's because we care.

Now please don't fire anything that hasn't been checked. It's not just the build either. Often it's the insulator in the 510 connector that fails leaving a dead short.

There isn't a battery designed for that abuse and you'd never know until it exploded, spewed flames, got hot as hates or you tested it on a meter.

ETA; for the record my current favorite is 24 gauge duals @ 0.2 ohm w/50mg juice.

I was a big Sony user too, I just get the heaviest batteries I can, right now, I'm making a habit of 3400 Mah Panasonic's, ... and, I rarely ever vape under 0.3 ohms.
No judgement here.. just have fun, and be careful. Remember, the truly STUPID question.. is the one you don't ask.
Those are 6 or 10 amp batteries. Not safe at .3.
