After getting almost two years of joy out of my stock 510s, I recently (finally!) upgraded to a Ego-T tank system a few months ago.

Unfortunately, despite how much I loved the tank, I was back to the 510 within a few weeks because my liquid clogged the atomizers in my starter kit in about a week. While the liquid that came pre-filled in the cartridges from MVP seemed to work fine, the 'tobacco' flavored ones I used on my 510 from Nhale/Xhale (namely Drewbacco and RY4 I think, though the labels have long since come off) left my atomizers more or less impossible to use.

I tried cleaning them with the hot (almost boiling) water method, blowing excess water/fluid out and letting them drip dry overnight. Unlike my 510's, this doesn't seem to do anything.

So I guess my question is: are there liquids I should be looking at that will perform better in the Ego-T than Nhale/Xhale? Or, can I get better atomizers from a place other than MVP?

You should be looking for would be mostly clear, thin, higher PG, type of juices. Anything else will not wick right and will cause clogging.

Cleaning them will require mostly what you have done with the exception of popping off the metal plate in the atty. Which is easy if you use a hemostat:

Aven 12012 SS Hemostat, Curved, with Plastic Grips, 5"

Which can be bought at your local drug store. Make sure you do a dry burn. Also, if your wick is gunked up than using a lighter. You can light it up for a second. Blow out the flame due to the juice. Then repeat until the wick is completely white.

Let it dry for 24 hrs and it'll perform like new.

Ovale, the company that designed the eGo-T, recommends a 65/35 PG/VG mix. However I usually use mine at either 50/50 or 70/30. Straight VG/water (like Ecopure) does not work.

It's unfortunate that vendors have not noted this.

Yeah I've seen this advice before, but I'm not really sure which liquids fall under this category. Unfortunately, I rarely seem to find info on how 'clear' liquids are at the places I usually shop at.

This sounds like some great advice, thanks! Is there a guide for this technique anywhere? I've never used a hemostat before :p

You know, I read a ton of that thread before I bought the tank system, but I found it a little overwhelming with advice all over the place. Are the specific brands of liquid anyone would recommend?

I recently got some Ikenvape RY4 PG. He sells it both in PG and VG so get the PG. It's a light colored juice and a great version of RY4 if you're into that. Purcig from FSUSA is another light colored juice that's a really good tobacco flavor and you can choose your PG/VG ratio. I mostly stick with tobacco flavors but there are many.

I understand what your saying and yeah, it's pretty hard to find stuff that's actually light in color unless you DIY. Like nomoreash said, a lot of tobacco flavors are light in color but, that might not be your thing.

So, I'm going to correct myself at this time and give you some other tips because I don't want you feel like your extremely limited in the choices that you have.

A tip I can give you when you order juices. You typically want something to be either (pg/vg); 80/20, 70/30, or maybe even a 60/40 blend. Although, some vendors such as Good Prophets has 100% VG that is fairly thin. Also, some vendors can actually tailor your juice any way you want it. But, you do have to ask first.

Like nomoreash said, a lot of tobacco flavors are light in color but, that might not be your thing. It's going to be hard to recommend specific juices to you since I have absolutely no idea to what you like/dislike in terms of flavor. SOOO, my advice is to get some small samlers such as 3-10ml bottles and see how they work out in your ego-t. If you get any issues than you can just clean out your atomizer and you'll be good to go. No big deal.

LOL, me neither before I had my ego-t but I had one from the dentist. Anyways, here's a great video that shows you how you would use the hemostat. It's the one that I saw when I started:
