Depending on your budget tolerance, the MVP or eleaf iStick are nice units for <$50, while the provari is great at about the $200 level (unit plus batteries and charger).

With the provari, you get added durability and workmanship plus a warranty (it's US made) - it's not an inflated price relative to the MVP and iStick; it's the better made device, but may or may not fit your budget.

All of the above give you control over the power (voltage, in the case of the provari), which is very handy, and all have long life batteries (which you buy separately for the provari).

ProVari, ProVape-1...

Agreed. Provari has up to 2 year warranty, cheap repair prices if outside warranty if you are one of the unlucky few to actually need it, and outstanding build quality. If you go simple with the Provape-1, you get every possible safety feature, and a lifetime warranty, and the same Provari level build quality.

hihi thanks for all the suggestions!

that provari is pretty pricy and a bit large for me too I think - you use those in the car, or is this for a ritual kind of experience?

the provari mini is tempting, but eeesh the price is still pricy - course I like the idea that replacing the reasonably priced battery is all that's needed.

I'm still new at all this - haven't had much luck with some of the modestly priced batteries; endless trouble with the itastevv3 and the no name fasttech minis.

maybe it's all a hit or miss kind of thing?

searching the web mvp seems to be the most popular one - but I can't get a real fix on how long it lasts without a charge then there are the tanks.

bit hard to fine tune what will work best and even harder to know what's best before you buy and try.

I feel like I'm trying too hard to find what's right in vaping all around;mods and liquids, coils and tanks
there's just so much to look at and try.

so far people have given me plenty to look into and hopefully that will help me narrow things down.

- thanks for your time

The Provari is actually MUCH smaller than the pictures make it look. A Provari Mini is almost completely hidden in your hand if you make a fist. The regular Provari is only about a half inch longer.

They do carry a price tag, but for example, I've been using the same Provari for a little over 3 years, and it's still perfect(aside from a few scuffs) despite quite a bit of abuse.

what's the best mod to get?

Remember that line in lewis carrol's Alice in Wonderland, where Alice asks

Q: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
A: "That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."

I think about this quote all the time!

Tell us what you don't like, tell us what you are having problems with that you'd like to solve for yourself.......

There is no best mod, only the best mod for YOU.

Do it old fashioned way: Make a list. 2 columns LIKE DISLIKE

What do I want? examples: Variable voltage, light weight, inexpensive, expensive, long battery time, smaller and pocketable, etc.

then tell us what you really dislike?

Because w/out any parameters or guidelines, all you're going to get is people telling you what THEY like, which I found out was not usually what I ended up liking. :)

It can be intimidating, erinq, but you're doing the right thing by asking questions and doing some research. It'll come in time - we all had to learn it - and it's a deep hobby, as you've discovered. Nobody can tell you what's perfect for you. The best way to proceed is to take all the advice you get in here as just that - the opinions of people who've tried some things. Balance that with your own sense of what would work for you (e.g., the size factor you mentioned) and get yourself set up with a system that will keep you off of tobacco. Once you have that stable platform to keep you, you can investigate deeper.

Don't be surprised if your wants/needs evolve over time. What works today might be left behind months from now as you experiment with gear and juice. It's all good - just let it happen naturally. Don't try to knock it out of the park with your first "real" setup - it just puts too much pressure on you. Just focus on what will keep you vaping full time today.

As for your question about the MVP, it has a 2600mah battery and lasts most people vaping moderately about 2 days between charges. It's a good device and would definitely fall into that 'stable platform' I was mentioning earlier. The iStick is new and doesn't have anywhere near the history and following of the MVP, but many regard it as the next evolution of the MVP. It, too, has a long life battery.

kind of did that

"no bells & whistles needed, must last long and be built well"

course now that we hit over $100 price has become a factor

Okay, under $100. Closest to provari, w/menu, etc. is Sigelei Zmax. Has both 510 and ego connectors, takes 18350, 18490/18500, and 18650 batts. Around $50. May not last as long as provari, but has a full menu with circuitry. Tube shape. I loved mine.

Box shape......MVP2. Or the new Ileaf looks to be killer popular....tiny + powerful

Non VV, under $100, lifetime warranty, Provape-1. small, great in hand, well balanced, well built but NO VV

Non VV, under $100, can use a "kick" to make VV: Silver Bullet by Altsmoke, kinda old school at this point but very durable

Mecahnical Bottom feeder under $100.......vmodXL box shape, gravity fed, china made (Reos cost well over $100)

Longevity .......in terms of years and years......, you're probably going to need to go over $100

oh boy, I have my work cut out for me...

how long can I really expect a mod/battery to last?

so far I have had migs (6 months) still going, but not enough bite or taste - tanks don't last more than a month.
itastevv3 1st one 2 months - 2nd one week.
no name 1300 mini fasttech 4 weeks.
kanger 1000 3 months, still going, needs constant recharging to vape well.

this is why I need it to be built well and last long cause I'm tried of sending things back and tending to them all the time.

then there's tanks and coils - ugh!

maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I haven't dropped them
I make sure nothing's leaking
I don't think I take too long of a drag

I'd like to get past these troubles or is that just part of vaping?

Mech mod; I'd say the Cronus. It has minimal voltage drop and the switch on it feels like sex
So....it's fun at the time, but too short, ultimately disappointing, and leaves you feeling dirty? ;) Sorry, Had to.

As for the "best" mod, I'm gonna give it to the Provari for sheer quality, Just about any mech mod with a serious switch and decent thickness will have the game in durability, and I haven't got enough experience with the newer Variable mods yet to give a best in regulated juice guzzling.

For me, it's the m16. I stopped using it in favor of a brass cartel, but the 510 threading striped. Back to the m16. But this time, I had to make it stronger. I was going to miss the button on the cartel. Even tried to see if I could use it on the m16. Nope.
But wait! I have a slight obsession with magnets, and have never thrown one away!
I dug, and dug, and found a few small rare earth discs, took out that ol' spring, tossed in those magnets, and now, it's like an old love resparking. I feel like grandpa felt when grandma had that breast implant surgery! (fictional grandparents.)

thanks for your suggestions :)

It's hard to not suggest a Provari. It qualifies very well to your needs.
It was suggested when I wanted and needed to start vaping again.
I just needed something that worked and that it did. It's probably the most reliable regulated device overall on the market at it's price point. Maybe any price point. Get the mini if you go this route.
